I am a registrant of more .com domain names. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest.

We find it very concerning that Verisign will be allowed to increase the wholesale price to registrars for .COM domains by 7% each year in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023, and further after that. This rate of increase makes no sense and will harm the accessibility of .COM domains by the less affluent, as the price increases will naturally be passed on in full to the customers of the registrars. And we demand to know where this extra money is going to be spent. That this decision was made behind closed doors with Verisign is concerning. That the new contract will allow Verisign to operate its own registrar smells of illegal collusion. It violates the ICANN multistakeholder model. Jim Wiggins – mywiggins.com

I am an IT Professional and I strongly suggest to my customers to by domain names in order to expand their business. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. I don't see a problem with the current domain price. Yes I do agree that a small change like 1-2 percent on per year basis is normal, but the current proposed scenario is not ok. Verisign is merely a manager of the .COM Registry - I don't see why it has to involve itself with the pricing. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public - not corporate greed or profit. This is completely unacceptable and the fact that it has been approved without public consult is both devious and signifies a dishonest agenda. Where will the accumulated funds really be spent? Why 8 out of the next 10 years to have price increases? Such changes need to go under public scrutiny and be justified.
