Hey, don't raise prices on .com. That's not cool. I know you're going to do it anyway, but I'll at least add my name to the list of people who conscientiously protested your decisions. Along with what you guys just did with the .org TLD, this is pretty sketchy.

Hello icann, I am sending you this message regarding your change of your billing. Please don't raise the costs for the .com domains. A lot of businesses will have to raise the costs and in such a result the e-commerce Industry will be eliminated for the small business owners. Hello, I am a registrant of a .com domain name from Lyon and I am against the proposed price increase to .com domains because : - No one other than Verisign want increases in .com prices - The current rate is already more than justified - Verisign is a manager, it should not be allowed to dictate the price - ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest Cyril Marpaud

By now your regulatory must know this is a sensitive matter to all: registries, registrants, daily users of the Internet. (I know that precisely that importance and the huge interest involved is actually the main reason for the year-to-year increases in the pricing, whereas no substantial reason can justify the increases, nor their rates over time.) Changes in prices cannot be masked as regulatory and security measures. Attempts in that direction will affect many in their free initiative on the market as fair traders. The end users will be affected mostly, since the costs of using sites that deliver useful content for different audiences will ultimately increase, the admins/owners of the sites will be forced to set-up fees, or increase them. This is leading to restrictions of the access to useful and needed information in fields such as education, humanitaries, earth sciences, etc., especially in regions where even cents matter. Please re-think, reconsider. Some things do not cost money. Their costs are lives, their costs are dreams, their cost is prosperity. The .COM domains are the soul of online entrepreneurship, if prices rise unilaterally they are preventing access to many people who are starting with their business and this circumstance will eventually go against the expansion of .COM domains as alternatives will be sought cheaper.
