Um, no thank you. Why do you need this increase? How will this money be used? By increasing fees without purpose we can only assume it is for greed. The only purpose is to keep people from owning a domain. This is not what the internet should be.

I am opposed to these proposed changes as they will affect many small and medium business and startups. Domain names should be free and not left to the exclusive manipulation and profiteering of a few.

Hello, I just found out that ICANN is planning to offer Verisign a way to increase the price of .com Domain up to 70% For what does ICANN need 20 Million USD to accept this kind of deal with Verisign? I am a domainer (I invest in domain names as a business). I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. I will be forced to sell-off many of my domains if a price-hike were to take place. Dear ICAAN, On the outside looking in, this deal looks dirty. Large amounts of money changing hands, discussions behind closed doors, a company siding with big business and a willingness to disregard its own founding principles. Whichever way you try and spin this, it is a proposal which in no way can be seen as a positive for either ICAAN or the global community. It supports an attempt to monopolise the .COM business at the expense of both those who use it and of your reputation. Reducing transparency, hoodwinking their customers and prioritising the bottom line did not work well for Volkswagen. Simply put, implementing this proposal will go against everything you stand for. It's difficult to understand how you can, on one hand, preach transparency and fairness and, on the other, not only practice the opposite but also genuinely attempt to justify it.
