Dear Sir/Madam, This increase is not actually going to benefit you in the long run but it will actually discourage people to use their domain names and instead they will start using other platforms like FB etc. In fact, they are already doing this. And at this point I think it will increase this transfer. But at the same time I understand that earning from this is also required for you. So just make this increase in price less. The proposed price increase does not go well with the open internet goal. It doesn't have to be. The negotiations, and decisions happening without domain registrars notice or knowledge, and the nebulosity surrounding how the funds will be spent makes it a big NO!

Such changes will have significant impact on the Internet for years to come, and only you, ICANN, and Verisign have participated in this decision. Really? You need to allow others to participate in this discussion. Internet is public domain, or are we in China? If it's true what I read, your decision can bring me 70% price increase for each of my domains. And for what? The money you receive, who is going to monitor that those gains are going to support domain infrastructure instead of landing into your Executives' pockets or being overspent? I am against the price increase of .com domain names. I even struggling to pay yearly fees of 10$ but what will happen if the fees increases. Please don't do this. For the shake of internet.

Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. I am associated with the secondary market in domain names. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. I have a website that is a .com. I do not earn money from it, nor do I want to. It is a website for my personal needs. A simple blog that talks about my father, a victim of a horrible crime. I swore to him his story would be told and remembered on his website. He was lucky enough to see it and has since passed away. The site has been open since 2016. He passed in 2017. He is a victim without a voice. Through me, he has words. By raising prices on all sites, you deprive people, like me, of being able to simply have a voice. Cyberspace isnt just for personal profit. Its a voice. My dads site will never rank one on google. It won't make money. But it is something that I feel has a right to be affordable and available. Please reconsider charging more for all.
