I invest in domains and develop the said domains as a travel business. I am totally against an increase in fees, and in the event this goes ahead I will make sure to reduce the amount of domains more than proportionally to the percentage of price hike. Having the user base you have in .COM domains, you should look at reducing costs not increasing prices. did you folks just decide that it's time to get evil? after the nonsense of the .org registry sale, you then go ahead and decide to also increase .com registry fees? how about doing a little public outreach? what are you spending money on? why are you increasing fees? i am not sure my opinion is worth anything, but i'm not in favor of these changes. --igor

I have been a domain name investor since 1998 and primarily .com - Most of the 7 billion population is just coming online and increasing the .com prices will impact in their ability to register and own domain names - 30% increase is extremely high and outrageous for the services provided by the .com registry. Current prices are already higher than many other functioning cctlds . - What is true cost of running a registry? What about competition to help lower cost and not continue to increase cost of domain investors whe are the primary customers supporting the .com registrations ThanksSuresh

There is zero reason for ICANN or Verisign to raise prices for any domain tier, let alone .com, as it is the most prevalently used and therefore would affect the majority of domain holders and alter the way we choose to conduct our business online. The public can and will switch to different, cheaper domain suffixes, and will continue to move for as long as ICANN and Verisign continue to sink to greater depths of greed and secrecy. I personally have six .COM domains and I won’t hesitate to switch to a .CO or .NET or even something more obscure if these price hikes go into effect. As far as the world understands, neither ICANN nor Verisign actually do ANYTHING to merit receiving a fee at all for registering a domain. Until there is any actual perceived value in whatever it is you actually provide to the public, you don’t have a leg to stand on demanding more money from us. Additionally, Verisign should not be given agency to sell domains of any level or suffix, especially when they control pricing of .COM domains to other registrars. It appears you have a history of pretending to accept public comments, only to completely ignore them. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price.
