greetings, I realize the people that pay and use the internet have absolutely no control in this matter. it is typical practice in business to create a need for people , suck them in and then screw them to their limits. Wal-Mart is an example of that , but that will be in the near future. all I can say about this that you are doing to us may hopefully get regulated as some of us begin to lobby to the government that this likely is a monopoly and therefore subject to legislative control. that is my hope. but I personally have no hooks in me like the hundreds of millions of registered .coms that you will inevitably fuck senseless, I can drop my .coms they don’t mean enough to me that would allow me to be fucked like that! so you give in to your dark side, take the bait and hope it doesn’t bite you in your own ass! ciao!

ICANN This result is that the company that controls almost 80% of the registrar pricing for domain names will compete directly with all domain registrars, maximizing its control of domain name pricing to the detriment of other competing registrars. I was appalled to learn about ICANN and Verisign's impending changes to domain registration. I hold almost 100 .com domains, and the new amendment could lead to a 70% price increase for my domains in only 10 years and with no apparent added value. Domains should be getting cheaper, not more expensive! It's also insulting that this was no brought to the Internet community far in advance. It really gives the impression that ICANN and Verisign have conspired to increase their own profits and create a monopoly over the domain market. Dear Sir/Madam, It is out of frustration and anger that I send this email to you. I totally object the idea of raising the cost of .com without notice and the cost of maintaining should be lower instead of higher. Now the proposed price increase is outrageous. Even if there is any special reason for raising the price, it should be very mild and reasonable but iI doubt the reason behind such a move. .com domains are about 40-50% of all Domains and changing it would cause a ruckus and troubles to some people and I do not really suppprt that.

Not only is the scale, and lack of ceiling on the price hikes for .com domains absurd, the fact that Verisign can now act as a reseller of these domains, and happens to be paying ICANN $20 million in relation to these upcoming changes, feels like the beginning of the end of a free and open internet (not to mention a deeply concerning bit of insider dealing). Unclear business dealings aside, increasing domain costs will significantly impact registrars for approximately 40% of the internet, potentially reducing the number of registrars able to operate and, therefore, begin culling Verisign’s competition. Increasing cost will also create a higher barrier of entry for content creators around the world when the remaining registrars are forced to pass costs on to their customers. In short, I’m deeply opposed to the proposed changes, and very uneasy about the lack of transparency in the dealings that have brought the changes forward. To whom it may concern, I learned recently that last month, ICANN, the organization that oversees domain names, announced significant changes to the contract it has with Verisign, Inc. who operate the .COM top-level-domain (TLD). I also learned that ICANN made these changes in secret, without consulting or incorporating feedback from the ICANN community or Internet users. ICANN has a history of making similar deals behind closed doors, and also of ignoring unified opposition against such action. I am vehemently against price increases that will harm me as a customer (and the Internet as a whole). I would like to state that in the interest of keeping the internet affordable to all I am opposed to Amendment 3! Ed Cintron
