Dear Sir or Madam. I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I think that Verisign already win thousands of millions of dollars yearly, literally, just managing the .com Registry. This should be seen as a public service. Why increase even more the domain price? Why the need to win thousands of thousands of millions of dollars more, being you just the only company that has the .com monopoly? Maybe somebody should raise the idea to OPEN the .com Registry not only to Verisign, but to more companies, so it would not be a monopoly, and maybe the price would DECREASE, due to more competence. There are a lot of .com Registrars winning less than the $7.85 portion of Verising. But Verisign is not happy with the monopoly, with the literally thousands of millions of dollars coming from the .com Registry monopoly. I guess this is a clear example of the GREED sin. I repeat, the .com IS A PUBLIC SERVICE, and if something should be done, could be OPEN de Registry monopoly, so other companies managing the .com Registry could DECREASE the .com price. Dear Sir/Madam, I want to express my disagreement with the proposed amendment to the Registry Agreement. As a teacher that uses my .com domain for job applications and showcasing my students work, an increase of around 30% in 5 years is egregious. I request that special consideration is given to the vast amount of individuals that register .com domains for personal purposes. .Com domains have outgrown the commercial realm to become part of any personal online presence. Please consider keeping the low fee that has made .com domains so widespread, or, at least, a legislation that is flexible enough to protect individuals’ access to online presence. Adding a structure for price increases without setting a cap makes for a very scary future. What is the net affect of a world where people can’t get a domain name because it’s just too expensive to get and maintain? It puts more power into the hands of social media sites as the burden of maintaining a .com is removed. It sets the Internet on a path to where owning a .com is a luxury only for the wealthy. Please don’t pass these measures as proposed.

Hi There, I'd like to comment that I think the price increases for wholesale .coms is somewhat diproportionate and unfair and the position in which verisign finds itself is likely to be anti-consumer at best. Because they will have such a strangehold on pricing they can essentially create their own monopoly. I think this should be avoided at all costs. It would also be great to hear some plans of what ICANN will be doing with the extra funding. Regards

Dear ICANN, Because I represent children's organizations that do not have the money to hire lawyers who could engage with this process I do not have a polished or crafted amendment to propose to the Verisign Agreement. All I can say is it is utterly scandalous that .com remains the gTLD most frequently associated with the distribution of child pornography on the internet. Last year, for example, 50% of all the child pornography found on the internet by or reported to the UK's IWF was found within .com. That has been the pattern for many years. Howsoever the original arrangements were arrived at between the Federal Government and Verisign, and irrespective of how they were subsequently continued between ICANN and Verisign, these arrangements are plainly not working well enough to protect children. They ought to be changed to place an explicit obligation on Verisign to reduce the levels of criminal abuse taking place on their watch and from which they profit as a company. One obvious way, perhaps not the only way, would be to place an explicit duty on Verisign to require all of the Registrars with whom it contracts to gather accurate, verified information about the real world identities of every entity buying, renewing or managing a domain within .com. Verisign should also be required to terminate the contracts with any and all Registrars shown to be persistently failing to collect and securely store that information. I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. Hi, I am writing as a concerned citizen and digital marketing professional about the proposed amendment 3 to the .com registry agreement. I am concerned for many reasons, but it will primarily allow Verisign to increase the wholesale price to registrars for .COM domains every year for 8 out of the next 10 years, and the increases don’t stop there. This will mean that .COM wholesale domain prices can grow by more than 70% over and above current prices over the next decade. The contract also allows for other price increases, which could drive prices up further, ultimately making .COM domains less accessible and more expensive for everybody. The spirit of the world wide web is to be open and accessible. In addition to the price increases, it seems like ICANN will profit off of this - taking advantage of people who want to use this invaluable resource. There is no indication on how ICANN will spend the money and it seems very suspicious to not be transparent in this time. It is troubling that ICANN has ignored previous comments, but I hope you will reconsider this amendment. The consequences of this decision will impact the entire Internet for many years and does not seem fully fair or thought out. We need to ensure we are not harming people by unilateral, biased decisions made by ICANN staff. Best, Abigail Nocon
