People pay a fee every year for something like domain names which are nothing more than pointers in a registry. I absolutely fsil to understand what kind of budgeting needs would justify increasing the prices beyond what they are now.

Dear Ican Certainly the ubiquitous dot com has been a convenient trope at most. Since an almost unlimited selection of tlds have opened up there will sooner or later be a much more organized internet as people beging to self select into their intended categories and it will be better for all involved. Raising the prices on .com is equivalent to a last desperate gouge as we all know .com has had it's day in the sun. I advise this is anti-human behavior and will only serve to expedite migration. please reconsider. I will. I, as a long term .com domain customer, strongly against the fee increase policy . It’s unfair to small business owner who has paid for domain name for many years. As a small business owner, with a few .com addresses required to make ends meat, any increase in the yearly pricing for domaine names means an increased burden or expense. 1st: it puts a larger burden on small business than major corporate entities. For multi-million dollar companies, $5, $20, $50, a year not a big deal. For small business every dollar counts. Along with other rising costs, it starts to make one think twice about developing a new website that you hope will make money in year 2 or 3, hurting potential innovation from the small guy. A tiered increase based on the size of your business would be a much better plan, making larger business carry more of the burden. 2nd, it restricts buying domaines for new ventures or projects. 3rd: Makes it harder to protect your trademarked or service mark, through buying the .com, .net, .biz, etc., which is often required today to protect scam artist and traffic stealers from surrounding you and trolling for you customers. In this day an age, many use the internet to host a resume, a portfolio, etc., again major increases over time push individuals away from doing this and have them look for alternate or service to do these types of things on their own .com address. Maybe another item for consideration would be raising fee yearly if one sits on a .com address. By requiring a .com owner to have at least a one page website with contact info on it, many of those who sit on .com addresses trying to charge high dollars to release them would stop. Hi, I own 3 sites and the imposed taxes (better called sanctions or tariffs at this point) would put my small business and family at risk. I urge ICANN to consider the repercussions of entrepreneurs growing through this generation instead lining the pockets of older generations. I have read the particulars of Amendment 3, and the effect on me - a retirement-aged artist and photographer maintaining a couple handfuls of domain names - will be minimal. But it will drive people of average means or below out of their web sites. I strongly object to the amendment, which essentially gives Verisign a blank check and turns the common man/woman into prey. Hello, I am a small business owner with two domain names. The constant raise in prices for domains over the next several years will cause me to eliminate at least one of my domain names if not both in two years. I think this raise is unconscionable and unreasonable for all of the small business owners out there that rely on their websites for business. Your company is a symbol of corporate greed beholden to shareholders. Just the thing that is taking down our country now. Please reconsider this move and undo the increases for the sake of small businesses.
