I heard that the decision to change the .com registry agreement is being made without input from current (my) registrars. I don't want the cost of domain registration to increase any more than is absolutely necessary. I believe that as many parties with vested interests as possible should be involved in the decision, so lessen the impact on users like me. Thank you for your attention.

Tom Whom it may concern, I am wholeheartedly against amendment 3. This change will disproportionately affect small business owners and owners of web-based independent businesses. Intrepid business owners have enough costs associated with starting up, purchasing a domain name shouldn't have to be an unexpected expense; business owners should retain the choice to select a domain company that has a fee schedule that corresponds with their budget. This choice is being removed from the consumer by having one entity setting fee schedules for the next 10 years. In the age of the internet, individual domains and websites are expected of any business. This amendment will make the already overwhelmingly difficult process of starting a business even harder. Dear ICANN, I received an email stating that you want to increase the price of .com domains as soon as possible. I’d like to express my dissatisfaction with the increment. There are millions of people with startups who may not afford the perceived price which makes me think of what their future would be. Kindly reconsider your decision on this as such would subject many startups and freelancers to untold hardship. Thanks for your anticipated positive response. Best regards. Isaac Ezeoke.

To Whom It May Concern: I would like to register my alarm and opposition to the amendment to the proposed amendment. While I understand that more funds may be needed to support and run ICANN, the amendment as it stands provides both insufficient information as to what purpose these funds are being raised, and insufficient information regarding how to ensure that there is not abuse or misappropriation of these selfsame funds. I also find it concerning that there was no public attempt to raise these funds before turning to a deal with a private entity that allows said entity to profit -- this seems more like an opportunity to allow Verisign to invest in a change that would allow it to further profit from a captive market rather than a serious attempt at raising necessary funds. Unless Verisign is making significant advancements to the management of TLDs that benefit all of their registrars, I see no justification for a price increase. If Verisign is contributing to ICANN, the allowed price increase should be proportional to the amount contributed. It seems reasonable that Verisign would be allowed to increase the registration fee $2 and contribute $1 of that to ICANN, but the figures provided are much less beneficial to the community. Even so, that $2 for registrars would translate to at least $4 for consumers, making it harder for independent content creators.
