Dear ICANN, As a person who grew up in the ‘90s and has seen a lot change since then, the internet has been one of the few things that has allowed people to let their voices be heard, let people trade without borders, let families form through millions of connections. All through the internet, and 40% of those through a .COM domain in some form. Increasing prices may offer you temporary revenue increase, and allow you to hit your KPIs. But in the long-run, people will just shift on to other, more affordable domains. This is already pretty obvious in the startup scene where the .COM no longer is the king it once used to be. People use creativity to be able to use domains other than .COM. So increasing prices for .COM domains may just speed up this shift and in the end not benefit anyone. I am pretty sure this email will end up somewhere in the pile of thousands of other emails, and nobody will read it. But if for some miracle you do read it, I do hope that there is something we can do about it. Let’s not let greed get in the way of freedom and the best thing this generation has had, the internet made possible by the use of domain names, and in this case .COM domain names. Together we cann do it. You cann. We cann. ICANN. Thanks Masih

There are many individuals and small businesses who will be greatly harmed in the purposed price increase. Many individuals such as myself don't generate income from the domain names that I own and as such there would be no use in my continued ownership of those domains which though I'm just one individual, there are many like minded people who share my situation. The end result will be the price driving small businesses and individuals who make up the greater part of the .COM owners to seek other options such as Facebook instead. Don't hurt the little people.

I am making a public comment. About the proposed price increase for dot-com domains. I am a small businessman. And struggle to get by. Any increase in the cost of my website will impact my business and my ability to provide jobs to others

I object to the lifting of price caps for Domains. Small businesses like mine may not be able to afford the domains for their own business that supports them. Please maintain the current pricing schedule to avoid putting thousands of people out of business. Pam G.

I am opposed to any actions that would increase the price of registering a domain, COM especially. In a time where many are struggling to put food on the table reasonably priced domain names help many people pull themselves up into a better financial position. Through commerce, education and communication of specific needs to remain productive. Consider not supporting any changes that would harm this public good. Kim Regan

Good Evening, It has come to my attention that ICANN and Verisign are considering renegotiating their contract, a move which could (and more than likely would) raise the price of domain names. As a student, I have a limited income and require my website to exist in order for me to host my portfolio projects in order to get a job. A price increase would make this effort much more difficult for me, as I already have a limited income stream due to being a full time student. Keeping prices low is a massive driving force behind many entering website ownership. By increasing the price of this service, people will effectively have their voices silenced due to the price of entry. We're living in a more and more Orwellian world with each passing day, and the last thing we need is for the internet to be gated off to new content due to the greed of another corporation. Please consider not taking the $20,000,000 check and consider the people who are paying your bills (consumers, like me) for once. Regards, Austin Roorda
