Dear Sir/Madam, I am international user and writing to voice my opposition to Proposed Amendment 3. Despite there clearly being potential financial gains to be had by raising the registration fee on .com domains, the global DNS registration system should be run primarily as a public concern. It will impact our small business and the millions of small, independent businesses and developers that rely on the system as is to make their livelihood. Please do not adopt this proposal. Hello ICANN, I currently have several business domains, all .COM domains from Namecheap. I am disturbed about the proposed changes to the .COM Registry Agreement. I don't want Verisign to be able to charge me more money each year for my .COM domains. Many of us run small businesses and can't afford to have domain prices skyrocket year after year. Since most of our customers and prospects search for .COM first we have built our businesses around our domain names with the expectation that they will remain reasonable costs. As a business owner, I didn't choose a high cost domain .COM name for a reason. By raising prices each year you will put many people out of business. If they can't afford the .COM name, people won't create online businesses if they have to use another domain. Why is Verisign paying ICANN $20 million dollars over 5 years? Why is that money not being used to keep .COM domain prices LOW for the CUSTOMERS you have now? You will lose customers if prices go up more than 70% over the next decade. Please keep .COM domain prices affordable so that entrepreneurs can stay in business and also create new businesses as they want to without being stopped by a high .COM price. Hello, Please keep the .COM domain prices reasonable. The ICANN domain name system initiatives should be structured to keep services reliable, but not at such a high bar that small businesses and individuals cannot afford the cost of a domain name. The agreements with Verisign should be an open agreement which includes limits on price increases, not an unfettered exponential price ramp. Thank you for your service. Hubert Daugherty

I am writing in light of recent news that ICANN plans to raise prices of .COM domains. As a small business owner and student who runs her blog with .COM domain, this decision will significantly impact my ability to continue something I am extremely passionate about. I do not believe this should be the case. You will be shutting out small business owners who cannot afford to pay extortionate prices to rely on .COM domains for their brand which is purely unacceptable. I am especially disgusted that the reason this is supposedly happening is due to you accepting a $20 million bribe from Verisign. I am appalled that you would be willing to seemingly rob small businesses, bloggers and other site owners who rely on .COM domains of the ability to share their work, products or stories simply because they cannot afford the prices of .COM domains in the future with your planned rises. I have spent several years building my .COM domain, using my site as an outlet to share my writing as a student and running my site has been incredibly beneficial to my mental health as it allowed me a platform to voice my struggles. Yet, if .COM domain prices rise, I will not be able to afford to do this. People like me cannot afford to spend hundreds - or potentially thousands - on .COM domains especially if what we run doesn't gain profit and is rather for passion. You will push out and alienate so many talented, hardworking people with these price rises and rather than making the internet accessible, you are choosing to ostracize poorer communities. I would urge ICANN not to do this. Your organisation was entrusted with a job and sadly it comes across to me that you are willing to punish small business owners or owners who cannot afford price rises of .COM domains while the organisation profits financially from this deal with Verisign. I am writing to you in regards to the substantial increase in the .com registry. I understand that price increases are a part of all business dealings, however, the proposed increases go far beyond. I believe most will consider 70% a greed level vs a price increase. Please reconsider the impact of this agreement with Verisign and propose something more practical. I believe the changes you did in secret are devious, making deals behind closed doors and ignoring the opposition against such actions should be illegal. I adamantly believe you should change your policy. Along with clarifying how you will be spending the funds so they are properly spent on domain infrastructure.

To whom it may concern, I am writing to express significant concern about the changes to the contract with Verisign, and in particular the lack of transparency and consultation accompanying these changes, lack of clarity about how the additional funds from Verisign will be spent, as well as the increased cost of .com domains that will result. Please do not do this! The .COM TLD is one of the most popular and most accessible TLDs. The price increase will hurt a lot of businesses, including many small ones which are ok with the current prices, but will struggle with price increases. This should not be happening. Leave the internet as it is!
