Simply there is no requirement to charge more, the company registers more .com domains each year. The model works, leave it be.

Please do not change the pricing structure for .com tlds. Changing the pricing will have a huge impact on the web and how businesses and hobbyists alike use the web.

Domains are already expensive for a lot of individuals who would like to have a personal website, especially people in the 3rd world countries, this increase can only limit the access to .com websites for more people and has no functional purpose. I am against this price increase!

Dear Sir or Madam, I am writing in regard with the proposed Amendment 3 and it’s effect on the internet as we know it. Nowadays many individuals, such as myself, own their personal TLD .com for personal use or as online portfolios. The reason I bought my .com domain was the low price and the advantages it brings for me as a developer, allowing me to learn, by using this domain, about the technology of sites, web protocols such as http and https, as well as realizing the importance of Secure data transmission for any online activity. Securing the data transmission without a domain is almost impossible, as far as I know, so low prices for .com domains actually makes the web a safer place for us, teaching the “young” ones that encryption and secure data transmissions are not only easy to use but also mandatory in the world we live in. I ask you to not fulfill this Amendment as the increase in price will only discourage individuals and small businesses , as corporations won’t have any problem paying the increasing fees, but for a individual it will become costly to own a domain. Also competition is the mother of invention so allowing Verisign to operate as a domain registrar will likely create a monopoly in the domain market and creating unfair commerce at the expense of the public, who will have no choice but to pay the increasing fees or move to another platform for their online presence, as individuals or companies, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. I once again ask you to think twice and not Approve this Amendment as it will hurt many individuals owning domains and it could even change the internet as we know it. I'm a current registrant of a .COM domain name. I believe that the proposed increase in prices for .COM domains is outrageous. The current set price is already more than adequate. "Following review of all of the public comments received, ICANN org will prepare and publish a summary and analysis report of the comments received." First, this seems like a conflict of interest, sort of like letting the accused select which witnesses get to testify, or, as in recent times, to allow NO witnesses to testify at all. Second, with everything being handled by computers for the registration and maintenance of .COM domain names, and with little to no need for human interaction, the increased costs seem counter-intuitive. Prices should be dropping, not increasing. Third, not all online models can transfer to mobile 'apps' where the need for a .com domain is no longer even needed. Instead, we live and die by our .com domain names. The increased costs add an additional burden upon those who must maintain these domain names or even multiple versions of the same domain name in order to protect our intellectual property. For example, if I owned a company such as XYZShoes.com I would also need to register names like XYZ-Shoes.com, X-Y-Z-Shoes.com, XYZShoes.biz, etc. to keep people from trying to take traffic from me by using very similar domain names like "XYZShoe.com." Indeed, for a now-defunct online business I once owned I received constant offers to 'sell' me dozens of variations of my own domain names with threats of other people getting them if I didn't buy them and thus risk someone registering a variation as a trademark then suing me for infringement. This stuff goes on every day. In summary, I do not see any benefit to giving ICANN the ability to raise prices not in keeping with the actual market and indeed creating more harm than good by giving them the ability to raise wholesale costs on a product like this where there is no actual cost on their end beyond giving their executives raises and more office space. The internet is a beautiful place be where the barrier to entry is low enough anyone can participate in it. By raising fees you would essentially be raising the barrier to entry for everyone to contribute to this resource. .com is not a business but a public resource. Leave it alone

I would ask that you would take another look at agreement you see about to sign with Verisign. Keeping the internet, and top level domains inexpensive, should be a top priority for all involved. As the frontline distributor, this responsibility falls directly on you. Please prevent the needless corporatization of the industry. I understand these changes will have significant impact on the Internet for years to come, and only ICANN and Verisign have participated in this decision. The language around how money from Verisign to ICANN will be spent is nebulous at best. The necessity for such an increase is poorly addressed.
