I am a registrant of a .com domain name. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry – it has no business dictating the price. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. Thanks, Yvan Richer

Hello, These domain price increases will affect thousands, including struggling artists and other creatives. I hope that I, along with many others, can persuade you to not add to the price of domain names. Please do not increase the price of .com’s as the whole reason why internet was created and stands for - for everybody - will be under attack. This will go against what America stands for, freedom and opportunity for everybody. Dear ICANN, I was just informed by my dns provider about the verisign agreement. As a small business owner and computer hobbyist I am against allowing verisign to continue raising prices on .com domains. I urge you to consider outside opinion and allow the public to have its voice heard and not do this in private. This will only negatively impact small businesses and computer enthusiasts such as myself. The low price allows small businesses like myself to own and operate a .com domain for very little expenses. By increasing the price this will considerably lower the value of the .com domain. I am against this. Dont fix it if it aint broken. Sincerely, Caleb Crickette

Hello, It is unfair that with this new agreement, .COM wholesale domain prices can grow by more than 70% over and above current prices over the next decade.COM domains are currently accessible to everyone. This proposal will do the opposite, making domains and more expensive for everybody.l, especially since .COMs make up 40% of all addresses. D Pleae Pleae

Dear Officer, Happy New Year! I hope 2020 has started pleasantly for you and your loved ones. I wanted to share with you how a potential price increase will affect me. I own a .com domain. I am a very struggling and financially strapped filmmaker. It was luck and God that I was able to afford a renewal on my domain and email address. I still haven’t been able to afford making a website, but I can afford to save the domain name and use an email with my company’s name. That is a good thing. If I can no longer afford it, that’s a direct hit to how other potential partners view me and my films. Please reconsider increasing the price. Thank you, Nicole

I am a .com registrant and am associated with the secondary market. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign wants increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified. Several of us have multiple domain names, if for no other reason than to protect our own names from being used to run a website. I personally have about 6 that I use to protect myself and my family while also allowing my children to be able to have a domain name that is exclusively theirs. 20 year Cost analysis: $ 7.85 / year 2018 $10.29 / year 2023 (31% increase over 2018) $13.49 / year 2029 (72% increase over 2018) $17.68 / year 2035 (125% increase over 2018) $23.17 / year 2041 (195% increase over 2018) Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry - it has no business dictating the price - and already makes profits at current price levels in excess of the operating needs to maintain a registry. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. The public has a vested interest in reasonably priced domain registrations to foster innovation on the internet and allow the individuals to maintain a presence on the web. Cecil D'Souza Cary, NC

Costs change—generally upward> Everyone can agree on this. What NEEDS to change is transparency AND justice. Greed, and what you are doing, is NOT aligned with these values. YOUR greed hurts people—and people pay your bills. Stop the madness! —one of many concerned citizens.
