Hello, I am quite concerned about the news I hear about proposed changes to contract between Verisign and ICANN. The price increases and relaxing requirements on operating registrars in exchange for funding, and previous track record of ignoring public comments to policy changes by ICANN - all that makes me quite worried. This sounds like a scheme of monopolists that fear no scrutiny, because "what can you do to us?". This is true, at least in part - there isn't much I can do about it. I am therefore submitting my comment that I am totally opposed to all proposed changes. If such policies would ever be enacted, they absolutely must be preceded by opening up the monopoly of ICANN and Verisign. Regards, -- Michal Figurski

I own, and have owned many different .com domain names. Considering these domain names are the first step introducing new business and innovations, it's important (for the sake of basic economic growth) that they are as accessible and affordable as possible. I strongly appose this rent-seeking behavior of increasing the prices of .com domain registrations. Allowing Verisign to arbitrarily increase a price of .com domains introduces a monopolistic precedent for foundational internet technologies like DNS. It should be stopped at all costs. Hello, I am disappointed to hear that you are accepting a buy-off from Verisign to the tune of $20 million, and in turn allowing them to raise prices on .com domains. It's clear that this is what is happening - you're not even trying to hide it! I sincerely hope that you do not ignore the public's comments on this issue as you have in the past. You are making serious changes to the internet and the availability for individuals and small businesses to own their place on the internet. By permitting Verisign to increase prices by 7% per year, you are causing an increase to individuals far above what we can expect our incomes to increase! I wholeheartedly wish that you reconsider and remove this amendment from consideration! -- Daniel Kenny

To whom it may concern. Please add provisions to limit the cost growth of .com domains please, easy domain name access is essential to thousands of small business and education. Allowing 8 of of 10 year on year increases can mean that .com domains become much less accessible and seems unprecedented. I read about your plans to increase the price of .com domain over this decade that may go as high as 70% on the current price. This increase will hurt the African technology growth. We are against it especially as there is no convincing reason for this increment. On behalf of the startups in Africa with a global goal, I join my voice to demand that I CAN step down on the price increase.
