It is highly disappointing to watch ICANN further depredating the public trust, as we face the latest in a long series of cynical money grabs by cronies of the Corporation's leadership. Serving as a captured agency to Verisign's exploitation of their de facto monopoly over the most valuable domain names is not what any of us had in mind in 1998 — or perhaps it was precisely what you had in mind all the time, and the rest of us were too naïve to see it then. More and more, it looks like a real alternative to current governance is the only path forward that can be expected to work to the benefit of internet users, rather than that of a well-connected company with a documented history of abusing both the market and the privacy of millions of individuals. Hello, I have been made aware by Namecheap about the impending price increases on .com domains over the next decade. As a small business owner, I do not wish to see a further expense levied that will apply pressure to my day-to-day workings. It is entirely unethical to have implemented a deal that sees end users forking out more than they need in order to own one of if not the oldest TLD in internet history. The price of .com domains should be decreasing, not increasing as the maintenance costs of better technology become cheaper. I will be sharing this with local business owners in the UK. It’s not clear from the current situation why these changes are taking place and they seem like a quick money grab undercover. Dear ICANN Administration, I have heard about the new contract between ICANN and Verisign from Jan 3rd 2020. I own a .COM domain since years, and the Internet should not become a restricted market, where a few companies like Verisign control prices and registrars and possibly can raise registrar prices at their own discretion. I am completely against this contract with Verisign and hope you will change it to allow a free and open market and open fair competition for a lot of registers and don’t favor one company like Verisign, even not when they are paying you 20 Million Dollars. I do not support this proposed amendment No. 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement (Amendment 3). There is an extreme lack of oversight for this initiative, which may seem like it offers value, but in truth only offers value to ICANN org and Verisign, Inc. Who will regulate the possibility of price increase after the freeze period? Who will ensure that the revenue received from these increases will be used to 'work together on additional initiatives'? As an owner of multiple .com domain names, I do not support this amendment and I do not support the possibility for an increase in .com registrant prices. Technology costs are constantly decreasing as new efficient mechanisms, procedures, and other various improvements are made each day. "Security, stability, and resiliency" of the Domain Name System can be improved by utilizing better talent, not at the unnecessary expense of domain name owners. Overall, $7.85 already exceeds the value offered by the DNS service.

As a developer it's already hard to pay the extra 0.18usd on all domains name nobody is questioning what you people are using the money for, now because nobody is questioning you people, you just wake up and said that you want to increase .com domain name, without the knowledge of your customers, or even to understand how it will effect people's business, all in the name of making more money, This is wickedness, this in human, you people don't care about small business that can belly afford domain name, because you see that .com domain name is everywhere you will just force people to pay for something that is not what the price. I believe with the way you people are going about things it will be better when government will step in to create policy that will regulate your pricing, Since all you people do is to set around and just increase the already over high price of domain names, without thinking of the effect it has on customers If the creator of the internet, created it to make profits am not sure you people will have any business today, Yes think about that. The already over high price of domain name today makes it hard to convince people to buy one talkless of increasing the price of what is already over price. You are already making billions of dollars from all domains name, yearly, what do you still need to increase the price for if not for greedy, wickedness, witch of a people you are. Profit chasing by corporate giants leaves the masses feeling used, helpless and exploited. It is always reasonable for price increases that are justified and necessary but when the limit is removed and the price raise has no increased value of a service or product it becomes a hard pill to swallow. Also, with the alternatives to .com constantly growing with competitive price options for the consumer to turn to, aggressively raising the price will encourage the users to consider turning to cheaper and more accurate domain names. ".COM" has always been such a great symbol unifying WWW in a way that makes it easy for all to use and navigate. ICANN’s principle responsibility is to ensure that the deliberations and decisions of ICANN are made for the benefit of the Internet community, as a whole. Policy changes, particularly those impacting pricing and access should be made in full sunshine and with solo station and consideration is majority public sentiment. To do otherwise destroys the overarching principles the internet was founded upon. Price increases diminish the equitable access and societal benefits the internet offers and should therefore be avoided at all costs. Note that this is not SPAM.

The potential price increases are excessive. They should be limited to the rate of inflation. Growth should come from domain growth, not from raising the prices.
