Hello, I’d like to formally register a negative comment regarding this price increase. While many .com names are currently quite cheap and accessible, raising the price across the board will ultimately make the Internet less accessible for individuals, particularly those in lower-income areas, who are looking to register domains, share information, and start businesses. I have no objection to occasional price increases and don’t expect services to be provided at a loss, but the suggested policy is of a magnitude that I feel would cause long-term damage to the Internet. Please don't increase the prices for .com sites. A small business like mine can't afford price hikes especially if they keep going up and up and up. This could have a huge impact. We are a social enterprise and donate 1p in every £1 to charity and we may not be able to continue doing that if the cost goes up too much. Dear Sir or Madam, I have been in business since the Internet started to be used by business. I started back in 1994, teaching people how to use email, then I build web pages for them using nothing but HTML code, so I have seen everything from a business point of view. The cost of a domain name has never been a major factor, but it is a factor, as we have to explain that it has to be paid every year. Given the changes online, starting in 2018, it is becoming more & more obvious that a business no longer needs a domain name. Now, having a Facebook Page, Instagram Account, LinkedIn Account is more important than having a website, as being where your target market is, is far more lucrative. A 2017 CNBC survey found that 45% of small businesses in the USA have no website, so if I have to go to a business to get them online and I say that your domain name costs us$20 now but I don't know what it will cost next year, or the year after, they will second guess the decision. Existing .com owners will be thing the same, why bother with a .com? The generations growing up now are already expecting to see a business on Facebook, Instagram & LinkedIn, a website is a second thought when they are shopping. It is abundantly clear that ICANN will ignore this message, since it has shown it does not care what anyone thinks anymore; nonetheless, I wish to lodge my personal complaint against Amendment 3. In addition to transparently funneling money from domain holders into the pockets of ICANN board members, Amendment 3 largely consolidates domain registry under a single entity, Verisign, who is then free to engage in monopolistic behavior. There is absolutely nothing about this amendment that benefits the internet community at large. ICANN was founded in 1998 to promote internet stability, market competition, broad representation, and consensus. In the last year, ICANN has proven that these are no longer the principles by which it is guided. Greed, consolidation of power, and cash grabs are now all we can expect from this failed organization. Aaron Eckert

Any proposed price increase for .com domains should be in line with inflation and no more, otherwise the original price freeze makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. Furthermore there are rumours that the information you provide regarding the price hike on icann.org is inaccurate and that .com prices could increase substantially more than you are saying they will. The reason for the price hike is not clearly justified and neither is the substantial payment made by Verisign to ICANN for this agreement. Sent from my iPhone

Dear Sirs, I think that by proposing the com price increase ICANN turned against its statutory mission and against the Internet community. Increase in prices will make com domain less accessible to all Internet users. ICANN must understand that they do not own the Internet or the decision makers will face criminal persecution. I believe ICANN should be now subject to thorough anti-monopoly investigation to discover the true motives of the decision makers of that action. ICANN made these changes in secret, without consulting the Internet community or incorporating feedback from the ICANN community or Internet users. Hello I found out that you and Verisign have decided to increase the prices for .com, all interesting you being to profit more, of course. This is not right, simply is not right for the user, especially for those who have their domain names for many years and maybe even a larger number of them. Is this what you consider fair, transparent bussiness? Is profit all that matters to you and users not at all? How much money do you need to feel satisfied? Will you take them in grave with you??? Dear ICANN, As a computer science graduate I've grown up in the time that Internet was still emerging as a new means for people to connect together. A means that is accessible by everyone no matter their financial situation.. this is so to allow education to people which don't afford it and a fighting chance for people of less privileged countries to make it in today's market. Selling out the .com TLD goes against all the freedom. I do understand that there are ever increasing expenses but by giving it to a 3rd party there is no control over prices by government bodies after the mentioned 8-10 year period passed. If the .com tld is sold we'd be selling a substantial part of the Internet. Stopping this will help future generations keep building better technologies without having to rely on large corporations My proposal is for ICANN to keep full control of the TLDs and regulate them as it has done in the past. Good morning I would like to register our opposition to the agreement with Verisign. Domain name rule and price changes affect businesses in every country in the world and as such any agreement should be transparent, fair and aimed at promoting use of the Internet. Closed agreements work directly against this. In this case the work is being sub-contracted (we would have hoped ICAN had the resources and skills to manage this key role themselves) which automatically brings additional costs to the end users. This agreement will see an increase in .COM domain costs to end users of at least 60% over the ten years, assuming registrars opt to just pass on the Verisign rises. To then allow Verisign to operate its own registrar (virtual and reseller) will diminish the competition as other registrars, particularly smaller ones, cannot compete. This flies directly in the face of the whole reason ICANN and the system was set up in the first place. In the UK we have already seen a reduction in registrars as one particular US company acquires smaller UK businesses and I must admit that the customer service since then in those companies has plummeted. Keeping competition alive, prices down and consistent and avoiding out-sourcing to organisations looking to profit as much as possible from a captive audience is a raison d'etre of ICANN, but this move is contrary to that aim. Please, if not yet signed, reconsider, build the resources and skills in ICANN itself and cut out the profiteering of a commercial middleman.
