Hello, I am a small developer who also runs a bunch of small websites like www.radiantguild.com. I am studying software development and because of this study, I can only just hold onto what I have now as I don't make anything from my websites as it is all passion projects... I am writing this email to express my concerns and how this will not just negatively affect me, but also others like me, who don't have the money that big companies would have. If this amendment came into effect, over time the price for .COM domains can and will increase and people like myself will find it harder to buy these domains and keep them because we are running our small business or small passion projects using the bottom of the barrel, leftover money that we have. For me, I started the Radiant Guild as a site for a bunch of friends who I care about, and while I am not the one paying for it, one of my friends is. They are like me and have other more important things to pay for like college fees. I also have a domain for myself, for my portfolio website when I make it eventually... And by jacking up the price of the .COM domain, it becomes more expensive for me to even have a portfolio. It may not seem like a lot... 7%, sure... But when you add that 7% up, It gets expensive over time. As someone else in their comment said, ~$8 turns into ~$24 (195% increase by 2041) and the benefit we get from it is nothing... There is nothing new being added to the .COM domain that gives us a reason to justify paying more. It's just more money, in their pockets, for nothing more than they are doing now... Now sure, it could be 1% or 0.5% increases... But let's be real, that's not what is going to happen, this is a big company that holds the internet in their hands. If you give them a way to make an extra ~$16 per domain, they will push that as far as they can go, they won't increase to make an extra $1 per domain (~$100+ Million more per year) they will push it the whole way (~$16+ Billion more per year) for no extra work. (If this happens, I am sure that .COM will cost $40 a year in 2080) I hope you consider not giving them the power to make this price increase as it will hurt all the small people like me.

I am a registrant of several .com domain names and am strongly against the proposed price increase. The current rate is already excessive for the minimal service provided and it is corporate greed on the part of Verisign (only) to want to increase .COM prices for their own benefit (only). No justification has been provided for a price increase and ICANN should not be entertaining such an unsupported money grab. ICANN should continue to govern the domain name system in the public interest and not pander to commercial interests.

Dude I'm a small business I don't want or need my domain name to go up even more every year Taxi insurance already dose that putting many Taxi companies out of business the income is smaller every year but our websites are what keep many of the smaller companies afloat

Hello, Please reconsider your decision to raise /.com/ domain name prices consistently and significantly over the next seven years. The Internet was meant to be a democratizing space, giving access to knowledge not only to elites but, more importantly, to people who otherwise lack any means to educate themselves. The "digital divide" has already given the lie to that hope. This move will only further expand the digital divide, enlarging the gap between the "haves" (who can afford the proposed price increases) and the "have nots" (who will be unable to afford those increases). Capitalism works best when it supports a community, and fails worst when it simply enriches CEOs and shareholders. Please think about the social impact of your proposed changes. Team, I heard that you are looking to get into an agreement with VeriSign that will likely increase the prices of .com domain names considerably over the next decade. I think this will impact the adoption and growth of the internet and make it less accessible for people who want to go online. It will also prevent a lot of people from renewing domains they own for existing websites because of increased costs. In other words, it will kill a large part of the internet, which none of us want. Hi, I’d like to know why you feel it’s so important to be so secretive about this proposed agreement. Because you’re being secretive it makes me: Trust you less by 100% because you feel it’s necessary to raise prices that don’t need raising to literally throw money around simply because you don’t have a plan as to who will handle it, where you plan to use it and how. Add the lack of communication and this proposal is so far into the left field and even smelling foul. Why would anyone support such a sloppy and obviously extremely shady business deal? Who will believe anything you say now after this criminal venture? I demand transparency, honesty, and communication from you. I demand a crystal clear business plan for the money, including the long term plan, details, and how it’ll positively impact our world and make it a better place to live. If the money will not support a healthy change that will benefit the internet and its users trash this proposal. We don’t need it. Or you for that matter. A concerned citizen

As the owner of several .com domains, I would like to lodge my dissatisfaction at this process, especially the lack of transparency. Verisign is a commercial organisation and has no vested interest in maintaining the status quo of the internet. To grant a TLD operator license to sell domains is also a clear violation of conflict of interest. ICANN receiving $20m from this contract does a significant amount of damage to ICANN's reputation. Hello, Already pricing of..com tld is near 10$-12$ and i believe you slould not increase the price of..com tld.
