I do not understand this. If someone could explain where the fees are going and why the increase is necessary I’d at least have a chance of evaluating your proposal. I have just become aware of the the behind the door collusion occurring between ICANN and Verisign. We live in a technology world of open source and transparency. It is shameful for 2 companies to be operating in a vacuum and attempting to arbitrarily drive of prices to a ridiculous level. If there is a need to increase prices, that is okay, but it should be done in a fair and transparent manner, as opposed to a greedy power play by 2 players. The lack of clarity around what the additional funding from amendment 3 changes will be used for is deeply concerning. Internet users deserve a deeper explanation and transparency about the costs of operating i-cann in order to justify such increases in registration fees and third party contract revenue.

Please don't raise .com domain registration prices. Right now, almost anyone can afford a domain name and to put up a website. Raising prices reduces the capability which is the very reason the internet has become as popular as it is. Ordinary folks provide 75% of all the content on the Internet and make using the internet valuable and fun. Raising prices for .com domain registration would only serve to benefit corporations at the expense of common folks who would have increasingly difficult time at registering domains the more prices rises. Dear ICCAN, I want to express my deep preoccupation for the changes to the contract you have with Verisign, Inc. You’ve made these changes in secret, without consulting or incorporating feedback from the ICANN community or Internet users. Although ICANN has a history of making similar deals behind closed doors, and also of ignoring unified opposition against such action, we are focused on leading the fight against big price increases that will harm .COM domain users (and the Internet as a whole), making .COM domains less accessible and more expensive for everybody. This will directly attack the democratic access of the internet and owning a domain, all for an additional $20 million dollars over five years Verisign agreed to pay ICANN to support its domain name system initiatives, without any clarity about how ICANN will spend the money, or who will ensure that the funds are properly spent on domain infrastructure. I urge you to change this decision, as like me a lot of .COM domain holders will abandon this domain and we will all lose with this decision, done for a short profit of a small number of people! I strongly oppose Proposed Amendment 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement. These are my concerns with this new agreement: 1. Verisign will be allowed to increase the wholesale price to registrars for .COM domains every year for 8 out of the next 10 years which means that .COM wholesale domain prices can grow by more than 70% over and above current prices over the next decade 2. This agreement also allows for other price increases, which could drive prices up further, making .COM domains out of reach of general public 3. As I understand, this agreement is to generate a whopping $20 million dollars over five years to support ICANN's domain name system initiatives. But there is no clarity about how ICANN will spend the money, or who will ensure that the funds are properly spent on domain infrastructure 4. I am very concerned that given the significant impact of these price increases on the Internet for years to come, only ICANN and Verisign have participated in this decision Thanks, Vipul Seth

The ICANN is suppose to act in the public interest not be taking $20 million bribes from Verisign. I strongly oppose the Proposed Amendment 3 to the .COM Registry Agreement and this price hike of .com (TDLs) when domain prices should be going down not up. This is a shady deal and a price-gouge attempt by Verisign - when small businesses and creators rely on the current system which makes the internet what it is today. Removing price caps will push small businesses and creators into using free services like Facebook and that will hurt the internet as a whole massively. It will become full of just big corporations who can afford it and push more small contributors onto Facebook and other free services. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. No one other than Verisign want increases in .COM prices. The current rate of $7.85 is already far more than justified.

I am unhappy to learn that verisign can increase prices on .com domains with the proposed changes, without any of the domain resellers being consulted about the potential changes. Please add some wording that prevents unreasonable increases in prices and caps total price increases to help keep small businesses able to afford owning .com domains without making it impossible or unreachable. Thank you.
