.com price should not be increased. We can't afford it as a common TLD and how come a private company like Verisign decide that? If they want an increase, just let them do it on their website. We will just not buy from them. Thanks!

To whom it may concern, I am troubled by the news that ICANN has negotiated behind closed doors with Verisign a deal that affects developers and small companies the most, funneling their money into corporate coffers. I have a hard time seeing any upside to this deal and as a developer and member of a small company I urge this decision to be reconsidered.

Hello This is regarding the subject proposal of agreement with Verisign. The $7.85 price freeze established in Amendment 32 of the Cooperative Agreement is fully justified, given the considerable cost reduction witnessed in all spheres of Information Technology. ICANN has earned people's trust over the years in safeguarding public interest. However, now with the questionable stance in the subject amendment, its goodwill is at stake. With the exponential growth in the number of .com domains, there should not be any dearth of funds necessary for day-to-day operation and to implement necessary security updates, and there is no need to authorize Verisign to increase the price. Last month, ICANN, the organization that oversees domain names, announced significant changes to the contract it has with Verisign, Inc. who operate the .COM top-level-domain (TLD). ICANN made these changes in secret, without consulting or incorporating feedback from the ICANN community or Internet users. Although ICANN has a history of making similar deals behind closed doors, and also of ignoring unified opposition against such action, we are focused on leading the fight against price increases that will harm our customers (and the Internet as a whole). Dear ICANN, you cannot allow VERISIGN to be able to increase prices on .COM domains (or any .ORG OR .NET). The internet must remain affordable for small businesses and individuals. The proposed 8 price hikes over the next decade is plain wrong and unduly harms those already struggling to compete in a global market. Holding the line against price hikes is essential. Please do not allow this.

In regards to Amendment 3 to the .com registry there is some confusion regarding pricing of these domains. This amendment makes it possible (in fact probable) that .com yearly registration prices will increase not due to market pressure (popular domain) but arbitrarily at the root without explanation of why this price increases are necessary. Please help in understanding why any price increase at this level is necessary and if it is more language that caps increases tied to the need (some cost) and restrictions on increasing pricing to the same domain holder would be welcome.

I am concerned about the price rise. This will effect us badly. I am not also sure how this will work out for the betterment of the community. These ammendment should be open and public with the approval of the internet community and not behind the closed doors. The intention does not seems clear to me and how will this be for the betterment of internet as icann should be operating and working for the betterment and regulating the pricing.

This seems like arbitrary inflation from a consumer’s standpoint and it’s unclear what the benefit would be (if any). The recent intent to charge more for .org and .com domains is outrageous. There are actually no extra costs associated with domains. In fact it should be cheaper now as more domains are registered. This is a money grab. Pricing caps are an important part of maintaining an open and free internet. Millions of people rely on the internet daily.
