I understand that an agreement has been made to substantially increase the wholesale pricing of the .com TLD. I would express my concern that this type of decision has been made purely for a financial decision to increase revenue exponentially. That is totally unacceptable and it has the potential to increase the price by more than 70% over the next ten years. This agreement should be rescinded.

If ICANN was serious about domain improvement, as I believe it is, it needs to move away from giving verisign more power over domains, including pricing. Verisign has proven that they are not in the best interest of ICANN and will eventually cannibalize and destroy ICANN if it serves their purpose as a public company. This isn't a prophecy, it's a legal requirement that Verisign has as a corporation to make the most money it can for its investors. ICANN needs to be wary that Verisign will do its best to limit or block ICANN when they can. This means that ICANN will take money from Verisign now but lose more money later when Verisign uses their money to circumvent ICANN. Stop allowing Verisign to raise prices. Regulate the internet so that ICANN can remain in existence. We need regulation on the internet. We need a neutral third party to make things more competitive and allow for more innovation. This makes ICANN more money, more valuable, and more of a governing body than what it is becoming. Hi there, I'm writing in to ask you to seriously re-evaluate the .COM price increases involved with your new contract with Verisign. Price increases for .COM sites will disproportionately affect folks who're already less economically advantaged, and who rely more on the .COM than you might think. Many of us who run small businesses or are independent contractors or artists choose .COM sites for their easy memorability and because that tends to be what other people will assume our site is, so it's actually a really important part of making sure people can find us, which we obviously need to keep our enterprises going. We are already working within an economic system that drastically privileges and prioritizes large enterprise, and the internet has often been a way around that. Please keep .COM domain prices low and affordable for those of us who rely on the internet to make up for how our general economics let smaller enterprises down. Thank you for your time, Arianne

I oppose the significant changes to the .com domain policies. As a hobbyist web developer, I deal with people who scoff at some of the ridiculous pricing of domain names now as it is, and with these changes coming into effect, this will not only hurt them, but me as well! I pay my taxes on my income, and in order for me to secure new domains for clients, I would need need to reduce my pricing to develop and build websites for my clients, which is not profitable to me. Therefore by opposing these changes, I accept that I, as a single entity in the World Wide Web community, cannot make a difference, but these changes will send me to the wall, and therefore I am encouraging others like me through social media and word of mouth via my clients can build up enough momentum to see icann stop with the proposed changes. Another money hungry conglomeration out to destroy battlers, who are just trying to put food on the table for their family. I am a disabled person who suffered a major lower back injury but luckily enough not to be placed into a wheelchair, who finds it hard to gain employment of a physical nature due to a work related injury and suffering PTSD and anxiety through my former military service, and a short career in nursing, so basically, this is the only way I can derive an income, but with the introduction of the proposed changes, I dare say this will end my hobby business and potentially put me and my family out on the street? I hope the top notch executives of icann can sleep well at night knowing this, and I know I am not the only one who will be placed in similiar peril! The amendment will make it harder for every individual to get a domain name as the prices will be increased significantly. When I bought my first domain name I was so happy because the price was affordable and allowed me to have my own space on the internet where I could express my ideas freely. I wouldn't have been able to afford my first domain that kickstarted my business if the prices were higher. Please reconsider the amendment and keep domain names accessible to all. We are small online business owners who depend on our .COM domain as a platform to compete with larger corporations. Increasing fees on .COM domains will have little effect on massive multinational brands and corporations but will continue to pinch small business, making it more difficult for people like us to support ourselves and the local economy. We strongly disagree with this deal made by ICANN and Verisign and are frustrated that a open public forum and consultation was not even granted for the small people like us to have a voice. This is not how an open democracy works and we demand to have ICANN cease this arrangement until open public consultation (as required) has been taken. John

I am a registrant of multiple .com domain names. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. ICANN is supposed to govern the domain name system in the public interest. Verisign is merely your manager of the .COM Registry and it has no business dictating the price. Please reject Proposed Amendment 3, or alternatively limit the price increases to 2% per year. The web, and global DNS, were envisioned to be run for the public good, and they SHOULD be run for the public good. Deals such as this constitute a clear conflict—not to mention an abnegation of the public trust—and are an abdication of that mandate; short-sighted profit chasing at the expense of the greater good. Dear ICANN Staff Im very sad to read that the prices of .com domain will increase. Lately everything is increasing dramatically and honestly i don’t know where this situation will go. I can understand some products to increase the prices due to fuel price, electricity or a product that need raw materials to be done. From your part i cannot understand this price changes because you don’t produce domain names so you don’t need any raw materials to make it. So whats the real reason to increase the prices? If someone is reading this will think : but is not me i decide, is ICANN. ICANN is people hiding behind a company name. Everywhere is people behind. Price caps are an essential part of maintaining a livable environment with-in and with-out the internet. The potential increases proposed by your latest, behind-closed-doors negotiations are alarming if they cannot be adequately qualified with transparency and respect for the customers that uphold your business.
