Dear ICANN, The changes to the contract with Verisign would likely put .com users like me, a small business owner and a person providing free information on how to stop child abuse in nonprofits, in a place where they must discontinue some if not all of their internet presence. Having a website is really the best platform for my project on child protection but as I am self-funded, I would have to move to another platform if prices were to continue growing for the next 5 years. I already have enough expenses to create the materials to help nonprofits on the website. IF the prices increased, I would have to move to another platform like FB which would not be nearly as good. Additionally the domain name increases might be passed on to me on other products I use which would definitely make it unsustainable for me. The philanthropic person, the general public, AND small business owns would all be seriously hurt by these changes. Please reconsider for your users. This is a bad deal. Regards, Amy Travis

Dear Friends, I have received notice that ICANN has announced significant changes to the contract it has with Verisign, Inc, and that these changes will allow for a steady increase in the cost of .COM domain names. As the director of a small non-profit business, this news is troublesome for me. Apparently this arrangement is being made without involvement of the many entities that will be affected. Is there anything we can to do prevent this? Hello, Setting up domain names for a new business is one of the few things you can do when you are starting out a s a new entrepreneur….please don’t ruin a good thing,. Hardworking people tryin to earn a living and start their dreams should not be robbed of there dreams fro simply creating a domain name. It appears like the hard working person is being taken advantage of . Please reconsider..if you need to amen a modest increase ok.. but raising the price and letting it escalate every year is just wrong. Thank you.

Please provide greater transparency in what the $20M being provided by Verisign will be used for, in addition to why a price increase in .com domains is necessary in the first place. These changes are ridiculous and will not only prevent small business from growing but will prevent new businesses from ever forming. We are in the technology era and websites are crucial to running a successful business. I, along with millions of others, am completely against these unethical changes. Why are increases necessary? It is already unclear how the monopoly situation the Verisign enjoys is benefitting consumers of the .com TLD (the vast majority of whom are small business owners and individuals). ICANN's new agreement with Verisign will allow Verisign to increase wholesale prices for .com domains every year, allowing .com wholesale domain prices to grow by more than 70% over the next decade. This makes .com domains less accessible and more expensive for businesses. Please keep price increases to no more than inflation levels. Also, can ICANN please share what it plans to do with the additional $20m that Verisign has agreed to pay ICANN over the next 5 years please? Could this $20m be a key reason for the planned increase in .com prices? How will ICANN spend this additional money, and who will ensure that it is channelled towards domain infrastructure? It is currently a toss up on whether or not to renew many .com domains, given the annual cost of holding on to them. Your increasing prices of .com domains through the Verisign deal will have one effect - domain owners will drop more domains. I have hundreds of domains - most of them of little commercial importance. Rather than sit and wait in the hope that these domains will one day realise some commercial value, if you proceed with these increases I’ll ruthlessly go through my portfolio and shred everything but the very best. I suspect a lot of other domain owners will do the same. This won’t just negate your price increases, it will decimate your revenues. If it is your intention to discourage people from registering .com domains then this is a sure-fire strategy to achieve that aim. Sent from my iPad

Hello, I very much disapprove of this contract change as it is. I don't like the lack of transparency, and I think the current change gives too much to Verisign and too little to ICANN. Raising domain fees for 40% of ICANN's business (.com fees) is HUGE, and a flat payment of $10M is a ridiculously small payment for the power it enables Verisgn to have. If Verisign is only going to pay a flat $10M, there should *strong* caps limiting how much they can raise .com prices each year. This contract change, as is, is extremely against the best interests of the public. Please make changes in favor of the public interest. Thank you. Gregory P. Williams
