I believe this is completely against the power that new technology like internet gave to any individual to build their own business with low investment. I was recently made aware of the arrangement between Verisign and ICANN regarding the ability for .COM price increases. I am concerned about the full potential of this new pricing ability and the lack of transparency around what these pricing increases might be needed for. I would like to see some disclosure about what initiatives these increases would be funding and some constraints on how far the increases can go. Please consider these points in your discussions. The price increase doesn't matter much to me, but I don't agree with the way the amendment system works. For such an important asset as the .com TLD, one company shouldn't be able to propose a change to pricing, send ICANN $20 Million and then get whatever change they want. The scope of .com is too big to allow Verisign and other major TLD operators to have as much control as they do. I appreciate that the public comment period is a way to query other stakeholders in this matter, but we're at a huge disadvantage. We aren't the ones proposing this amendment and I'm sure we never could propose one. - Daniel Angell

I am deeply opposed to this unilateral move to allow prices for wholesale domain registrars to increase 8 out of the next 10 years. I am a retail customer. I know how this works. The wholesaler will not accept a reduction in his margins. No, the rate changes will be passed along to me. I hate it when utilities do this. It is unacceptable. It is an abuse of power. It is unethical. Stop it.

Frankly, this fee increase is scandalous. I have seen no justification for it from ICAAN itself. You are supposed to be a non-profit organization. There is no transparency as to why this increase is being made or what you intend to do with the money. It looks to me to be an abuse of monopoly power designed to enrich those in your organisation. Look, the internet is for small business and entrepreneurs. There are millions of us out there. These price increases affect the global economy of small business. It takes small players out of the game and leaves the field open only to those that can continue to support the infrastructure increases necessary to stay the course. I think we should consider volume of players over monetary increases. Such significant increases will definitely affect the size of the filed. Maybe that’s whats behind all of these increases. It doesn’t make the world more safe or more accessible. Just continues to concentrate wealth in the hands of a few. Please reconsider this amendment and vote against it. Thanks Renee Rolle-Whatley

Should these changes go forward, many people like myself may not be able to keep their websites afloat. I am concerned that the internet is becoming less equal for users without high income, and I don't want to live in a world where only those who can afford it share information and ideas online. This increase in price to individuals is going to be huge especially when many like myself have 5 to 6 or more domain some of which we do not even use at the moment but do not want to let go of them because of sentimental value. On the other hand corporations make huge money on their domains and probably wont care about yet another price increase so in the end you will have more rich corporations owning all the domains and individual customers having less or none of them. Does that sound far to you? My question is when do customer win over corporations? This change among many others in the past prove never. I've said enough, probably wasting my breath in the first place.
