Putting prices up annually will ultimately put such businesses out of business when already jobs in corporations are being lost by failing large businesses forcing people to becoming self-sufficient by starting their own online businesses. Hi, I would like to voice my concerns with the proposed changes to the price increases of .com registration. Increasing the cost will put a vast majority of people at a disadvantage. it will push, and lock out many people who would like to buy a .com domain name. Especially for people who don't have much money, and would like to start a new venture to better themselves. Dear ICANN, I wish to register my extreme disapproval of the proposed price increases over the next ten years and beyond of the .com domain and also the proposal to allow Versign to dominate the .com domain market, thus removing the healthy competitiveness from that market. I am one among many thousands of would-be internet entrepreneurs who are working on a very tight budget as we strive for success in a very competitive environment. Many of us use the .com domain as the basis for our businesses. Many of us run at a loss for the first few months or years. The incremental raising of the price of .com domains over the next ten years, plus who knows how much more at the end of that period, will hit us all financially and may put many of us out of business. I urge you to rethink your proposals. Increase the price of registering a .com domain if you must but let’s keep that price rise fair to everyone. Also, please rethink the move that will give Versign so much power over the .com domain. Competition is healthy and keeps us all honest. Let’s keep the .com market competitive. Any such decision regarding .com pricing remains with ICANN. Demand that ICANN REFUSE a potential price increase on .COM domains! Verisign is entitled to a reasonable fee for running the registry on behalf of ICANN. Dear ICANN I am a registrant of .com domains and I am writing to voice my opposition to Proposed Amendment 3. The web, and global DNS, were envisioned to be run for the public good, and they SHOULD be run for the public good. I quote for the ICANN website: 'Policy to ensure that the deliberations and decisions of ICANN are made in the interest of the global Internet community.' The proposed arrangement between ICANN and Verisign is an abdication of ICANN's mandate. ICANN is responsible for governing the domain name system in the public interest. Verisign is merely your appointed manager of the .COM Registry. By allowing Versign to dictate pricing for .com domains with an agreed price increase every year for the next 8 out of 10 years, ICANN is effectively selling off its responsibilities to Verisign. In return, Versign will be paying ICANN $20m over that period with no clear mandate as to how these funds will be invested for the great good of the DNS system or the Internet as a whole. No matter how this amendment is worded or marketed, it is a poorly, ill devised scheme that has no clear benefits for the global DNS system. We find it very concerning that Verisign will be allowed to increase the wholesale price to registrars for .COM domains by 7% each year in 2020, 2021, 2022, and 2023, and further after that. This rate of increase makes no sense and will harm the accessibility of .COM domains by the less affluent, as the price increases will naturally be passed on in full to the customers of the registrars. And we demand to know where this extra money is going to be spent. That this decision was made behind closed doors with Verisign is concerning. I am an IT Professional and I strongly suggest to my customers to by domain names in order to expand their business. I am against the proposed price increase to .COM domains. I don't see a problem with the current domain price. Yes I do agree that a small change like 1-2 percent on per year basis is normal, but the current proposed scenario is not ok. Fraudsters and todays Spammers send out email saying your domain name is expiring and you should renew now. Sending you a invoice out asking for price from 79.00 to 120.00 for 1 year renew. As you pay for it and when your domain does expire you find out they had nothing to do with the renew of your website. Money gone and in some cases so is the website. It reminds me of years ago of companies over charging calling themselves hosting companies who were resellers over charging till information about ICANN came about. ICANN helped to educate the consumer and seam to regularate the business. Now raising prices 70% in the next decade with out justification seems more like a Fraudster or Spammer just to be greedy to hurt the business. Many have done this in other industry, one to look at is how after long terms controlling a industry it has create competition and the competitition ends up Putting the controlling source out of business. Or hurting the source. I believe this Is what will happen in the case of raising prices with the .com services. Greed has destroyed many of good organizations to where they end up looking for help and joining other forces because there struggle to maintaintain such greed becomes to great. The only entities that stand to benefit from the proposed arrangement are verisign itself, at the expense of the public. These price hikes will impact the millions of small, independent businesses and developers that rely on the system as is to make their livelihood. Further, this could prove yet another point of pressure that convinces a small business to make their online presence exclusively in the Facebook walled garden and eschew the web itself. The web, and global DNS, were envisioned to be run for the public good, and they SHOULD be run for the public good. Instead of creating competition between registrars, a quasi-monopoly is created here. So you have missed two of your core tasks.
