Hello I am writing to express a few concerns regarding ICAAN's desire to increase pricing of wholesale .com domains. At this time there does not seem to be material justification to increase the wholesale price to registrars for .COM domains. With 7% increases, within 10 years, .COM domains could cost approximately 70% more than they do now, and there is no operational or cost justification for this increase in cost. Last time you opened to public comment, there was an overwhelming support for price controls for .org .info and .biz TLDs. I believe something like 3,500 comments were submitted in support of price controls with a mere six comments supporting removing price controls. Can you explain the reasoning for allowing Verisign to operate as a Domain Registrar - the appear to be agency issues in this decisions given they company controls almost 80% of the registrar pricing for domain names and will compete directly with all domain registrars. Fewer registrars will harm competition and domain name services. The consequences of this pending decision will impact the Internet for many years, and ICAAN responsibility to make sure average everyday people are not harmed by the unilateral decisions that cause arbitrary price increases.
