Dear Sir/Madam at ICANN, I urge you NOT to alter the contract that you have with Verisign, Inc. to operate the top-level domain .COM without first consulting with, and incorporating feedback from, the ICANN community and Internet users. An increase to the wholesale price to registrars for the .COM domains will have a major and detrimental impact on small businesses, micro-businesses and, ultimately, the freedoms that grant every individual access to diverse sources of information and goods and services. Protect people, protect the Internet. Don’t do closed-door deals for money. Regards, Shannon Grothaus shangro@gmail.com
