Many .com domains are owned by small businesses. Fee increases can affect companies in a lot of negative ways, and with continuous increases fewer and fewer businesses will feel that the .com TLD is reliable to own. It sounds like ICANN is making this change for a big payout from Verisign. Who is that money going to? Is there a clear and transparent budget? This feels a lot like a shady deal to make more money off of the internet community to me, while siphoning money off the top to Execs.
