Owner of several .com domains, and several on other TLDs, used for business, community, and personal purposes. The current rate on .com is already inflated, and would be benefit from competition outside of Verisign. If ICANN allow Verisign to further squeeze their customers who're subject to their monopoly, then they're no longer representative of public interest. Large companies will of course find no issue with the extra expenditure, but the Internet and those who have .com domains is a lot more expansive than those large companies.
