Hello, I disagree with the proposed request. It is hard for us to start any kind of business when prices skyrocket. Currently, the domain name prices are good. I don't need the shark-like competition in the domain name field too. It is enough that I have to pay around 3600 euros for 1024 IPv4s. In Romania, that amount is huge, compared to the national currency. And then there's the hardware that we have to buy to start a hosting business or whatever. The answer is NO! I am strongly opposed to the removal of the price cap for the .info domain. Doing so serves no useful purpose and will be a detriment to many organizations and businesses.

A number of excellent objections to raising the cap on info legacy TLDs have been explained here. I have another issue. I am an .info registrant for a small website that advocates for a specific issue. While .net is my main site, I forward from the .info domain to .net because I advocate for nonviolence on the topic and do not want those who advocate for violence to be able to use one of the top domain extensions to confuse themselves with my site. I also don't want it to be used to mimic or mock my site or even to defraud visitors. (My main site already was hacked once by possible opponents to the nonviolent philosophy.) Similar concerns apply to individuals who do not want their name sullied with false sites mocking or misrepresenting them. I find it difficult to believe that an organization like ICANN would force small organizations and websites that protect themselves in the same way have to let go of their .info extensions. This could lead to various attacks on their reputation. Yes, speculators and domain investors can be annoying. But at least if you want a domain back they'll sell it to you. Saboteurs will just hold on to it! I thought when the United States let ICANN go it was to serve the larger public and the world in a fairer way and help keep costs under control for countries with smaller GDP and personal and group incomes. But now I see just the opposite. I am very disappointed. The 10% cap on .info domain price increases should certainly remain. To allow what is in effect a public monopoly with no competition to increase its prices without constraint is simply unacceptable. The domain owners chose their domains in good faith, expecting prices to remain stable, and are unable to move to a different top-level-comain without huge disruption to their businesses. I understand that the new rate proposal will significantly increase fees to me as a buyer from the 10% increase to a no cap increase. What expenses are there that call for such a change? I’m requesting, since I don’t understand, does your company do towards this service. Why besides inflation should the cap go beyond 10% a year and why is there a 10% increase per year much less no cap for increases? I use over 30 domain names presently so would like some understanding. Thank you.

I fail to see how a 10% discount on .org domains is worth increasing prices on other domains. Dear ICANN I understand that ICANN is proposing to allow Afilias Limited, in its new proposed contract to allow PIR set whatever prices it chooses in annual increases. This change should be rejected. The current provision which allows Afilias Limited to do an annual increase of up to 10% a year is more than adequate, considering that the costs of inflation is well below 10%. If anything, ICANN should propose limiting annual increases to less than 10% but 10% should be the ceiling in order to not allow price-gouging of small entities which use the .info domain. The proposal to lift price caps on legacy TLDs will only serve to allow unfettered "taxing" of the current domain holders. In effect, TLD holders will be held hostage by their vendor, as the TLD is often synonymous with the brand. This is a bad idea and contrary to the public interest. To whom it may concern, As an employee of a non-profit organization that owns multiple types of domains, I strongly disagree with the decision to remove the price cap provisions in the current .info agreement. Removing that price cap is something that wholesale registries can and *will* take advantage of, potentially charging astronomical prices for new domains. We already see .com and other popular domains at ridiculous prices. Please ensure the accessibility to domains such as .info by maintaining.
