As the owner of many domain names, I do not want to see price-caps removed and believe price increases would be unfair. Further, legacy gTLDs are fundamentally different and registrants of legacy TLDs are entitled to price stability and predictability, and should not be subject to price increases with no maximums. Unlike new gTLDs, registrants of legacy TLDs registered their names and made their online presence on legacy TLDs on the basis that price caps would continue to exist. Removing the price caps will cause an speculative increase that cannot be predicted. One year i can pay 15, and the next year 150. I am writing to oppose the proposed removal of fee caps affecting .org gTLD domains. I share the view, submitted by many other internet users, that the .org gTLD is in essence a public trust and distinct from other more directly for-profit gTLDs. The fee cap removal would negatively affect not-for-profit and non-profit organizations disproportionately while delivering no tangible increase in service or other benefit — a profit grab, pure and simple.

Hi, As a owner of some .info domains, I am t be significantly impacted by the possible change in pricing/renewal rates for those domains with your changes. Please do not change this clause. The domain registrars have a great job and there's no justification for us, the intended users of .info domains, to have any major changes there. So there's no pou point in increasing prices. Being a small business owner with .info domains I am against any increase in charges for domains in general. As small business it is hard enough to keep a presents on the internet and the price of a domain should be of minimal concern as it has been. To whom it may concern. The proposed removal of price caps on .info top level domains is going to have a devastating effect on many small business who can not compete with fortune 500 companies. I own a small business and although I have no direct employees, I do retain a cadre of professional support in different disciplines. Managing cost and providing the best service I can for my clients has kept me in business for several years. If caps are removed from .info top level domains small internet based business like mine will lose their competitive edge, and may even cause many such small business to close their doors. Many of these business are owned by individuals who because of physical handicaps and other limitations cannot find gainful employment. Their online business provides a means to an income otherwise unobtainable. Removal of price caps on .info top level domains will force many self-employee individuals to go out of business. I am a .info registrant. ICANN staff should not unilaterally impose URS in legacy TLDs when that issue is precisely what is being examined by the volunteer ICANN Working Group who has been mandated to review this issue. ICANN policy making is supposed to be a ‘bottom up, multi-stakeholder model’. I believe that legacy gTLDs are fundamentally different from for-profit new gTLDs. Legacy TLDs are essentially a public trust, unlike new gTLDs which were created, bought and paid for by private interests. Registrants of legacy TLDs are entitled to price stability and predictability, and should not be subject to price increases with no maximums. Unlike new gTLDs, registrants of legacy TLDs registered their names and made their online presence on legacy TLDs on the basis that price caps would continue to exist. ICANN appears to be entirely catering to registries by removing price caps. ICANN should stand up for the public interest and registrants!

Aloha ICANN representative, Please continue restricting what whole registries can charge per domain name per year. The price cap helps keep the internet "open to all", which is "at the heart of ICANN's policy-makiing," to quote icann.org. I have registered igmabsorbers.info for several years now to disseminate the results of my astronomical research. I currently $15/yr out of my own pocket to provide this service to the astronomical community (both professional and amateur). If this grows too large (say $50–$100), it will not be worth it. This may happen eventually with the current 10% fee increase in the ICANN contracts but removing the cap will expedite the closing of my site.
