Hello I am a .biz domainname registrant. I am against theproposal to remove all price restrictions on .org, .biz and .info domain names. This proposal will leave me and all othersuch registrants exposed to very large fee increases. This is not a competitive market. As a domain name registrant who has beenpaying for this domain many years, I have no choice but to pay for the feeevery year if I want to maintain my domain name. The system has been working well and there isno justification for this change. Legacy gTLDs arefundamentally different from for-profit new gTLDs and should be treated thatway. Legacy TLDs are what the internet was built on. They are essentially apublic trust. They are very different than new gTLDs which were created, boughtand paid for by private parties. Registrants of these legacy extensions shouldbe entitled to price predictability & stability. Advancements intechnology should be driving the cost of operating a registry down, yet priceskeep going up? Removing price caps is unfair to the millions of domainregistrants. They will have no price protections. Every registrant will be atthe complete mercy and whims of the registry. This could result in a transferof funds from millions of non-profits to one non-profit, with no benefits tothe domain registrants. ICANN issupposed to represent a "bottom up, consensus-driven multistakeholdermodel". ICANN should not unilaterally impose URS in legacy TLDs when thatissue is precisely what is being examined by the volunteer ICANN Working Groupwho has been mandated to review this issue. I am a domain name registrant. I've read about a lot of bad decisions under the UDRP. The URS seems even worse. I heard the URS is very new and is being reviewed now to see if it is working properly. It is too soon to include an untested policy on .org domains where for a few hundred dollars anyone could try to shut down someone else's website. Telling the .org registry that it can charge any price it wants for renewing a domain name is a terrible idea. Why would you allow them to set a crazy high price? They could try to force the domain owners to pay a very high price each year to renew their domain name, and if the domain owner either won't or can't, then the .org registry could take away their domain name, set a high registration price on it, and then try to find someone else who is willing to pay a high price for it. This is very unfair to long time .org domain owners who may see their prices raised sky high for no reason. You let the new domain extensions charge any price they want, but that hasn t gone so well. Lots of people got burned when the new registries offered low rates for the first year, and then after people registered the domain names and some built web sites on them, some of the prices were raised through the roof. .Org has been working just fine for decades where the prices maybe go up a little bit each year. Allowing huge price increases from one year to the next could ruin .org for everybody. I think you should pay a little more attention to what is good for the owners of .org domain names. The registries are doing fine. They don't need your help as they are already making plenty of money.

I would like to add to the overwhelming majority of people who oppose the removing of price caps for .org domains. I would like to add that this should apply to ALL .org domains, not just pre-existing ones. What about the person or group who registers one next year and then has their renewal rates raised astronomically? ICANN should be looking out for the millions of "little guys" instead of catering to ever increasing profiteering off "our" internet. John Reed

The Internet is about a free an open world. A huge amount of .org domain names are small organizations which don't have a lot of resources. A 10% price increase "at the most" (translation: 9.99% increase every year) is an unreasonable proposal.

It's extremely uncalled for to remove price cap which cause market uncertainty. This including creating a massive chain of effect which will effect the entire internet domains structural intergreity just like internet radio. Why most internet radio operators stop their services because of the huge increment in cost due to no cap limit causing the internet radio industry to die out as opposed to the big player. What I'm trying to say is that in the future, top level domain may only be affordable for big organizations and will no longer be available to the general public which will result in a massive huge losses of data content on the net. The public and the market will definitely not be ready for this eventually lead to massive changes. I will strongly oppose to the new changes of removing the cap limit for domains. Lincoln L. I would like to add my voice in opposition of any planned removal of price caps for the .org TLD. I have been using this TLD for almost 2 decades and cannot understand why ICANN has seen fit to drastically alter the pricing model for this TLD. For .org in particular, the intended audience for such domains often includes entities with no commercial ambitions, so the possibility of a drastic price increase in order to maintain an online presence is not something that can be easily offset by said entities.
