Please keep the price caps in place, because there is no benefit to non-profits and private parties paying more for registering their domains. The only benefit is to line the pockets of companies who add little value to the domain registration process. Shane Graham

I work for a school. We always use .orgs as a way to differentiate ourselves from businesses. These are web-based projects that don't need to be or shouldn't be affiliated with our .edu account. To raise the prices would be a blow to the creativity of students and would severely and unduly encumber our ability to explore and experiment online. Im sure you already know this, and are just trying to ring out a couple more dollars, limiting the online space to those who can afford it. It's disappointing that one organization yields so much power. Maybe I don't understand though. Educate me. Tell me why this is necessary. Jesse

I operate two nonprofits for children and utilize .org addresses for the websites hosted by Namecheap. A rise in any administrative costs means I give less money to sick and disabled children. Cerise

I'm writing to ask ICANN to reconsider removing the registration fee caps on .org domains. We are a small gospel ministry that makes absolutely no profit, imposing higher fee's would be devastating to someone like us. I hope you understand and listen to all the people leaving comments in this thread and I hope greed doesn't drive you to stomp on the little guys. Just because you can, doesn't mean you have to. Please continue to make .org domains affordable for the average person by setting a cap on prices. By allowing PIP to set whatever prices they desire you will begin to limit the abilities of individuals and organizations with minimal funding... and those people need to have their voices heard online. I am a .org registrant. ICANN does not seem to recognize the difference between a legacy extension created with the support of the US government, that predates the existence of ICANN and that has millions of existing users and the brand new extensions that started off with a new set of rules, in particular no price controls, and no existing registrants. They have completely different characteristics, history, and ownership structure. It is not acceptable for ICANN to ignore these differences and to propose that they be treated the same. Removing price caps is not fair to .org domain owners. Many of them have websites that they have used for years. If price caps are removed, the cost to renew their domain names may become too expensive, and they could be forced to give up websites that are important to them. The Uniform Rapid Suspension policy is too new and untested to apply on domain names that may be 20 years old or more. With the URS, the domain names could be taken down in a matter of days with little notice. ICANN should be doing more to protect owners of .org domain names. Why is ICANN trying to remove price protections for .org domain owners, so many of which are non-profits, so that they can be overcharged for their domain names?
