Hello, I'm writing in regard to the Proposed Renewal of .org Registry Agreement. I'd like to urge you not to renew with the price increase cap removed. The 10% per year cap is a good thing, and there's no need to change that. Removing it will only cause PIR to increase the wholesale price dramatically in the future. I'm sure they'll wait a couple of years, for appearances, and then prices will skyrocket. Please do not allow this. Thank you, Eric Blount eblount(a)gmail.com

I am the owner of AandD.org 1. Approved Services. I'm against a searchable Whois database and believe Europe's GPRD will cause this to be impractical. While the whois service was useful in the 80s and 90s it's now a relic that should be removed from public view. If the Whois is to be kept then "privacy services" should be banned and all contact details for all registered domains should be visible. Obviously I prefer the deprecation of the Whois service but the "privacy services" is incompatible with an open Whois service. Choose one method and if it's not the removal of an open Whois service I believe ICANN will have many more loosing cases in Europe. 2. Pricing for Domain Name Registrations and Registry Services. I'm very against removing the prices cap for .org TLD costs. There is no competition as ICANN has allowed Public Internet Registry to have exclusive ownership of this (and other gTLDs). If there was established competition, like in the domain name registries, then I would be for removing price caps. By competition I mean more than an oligarchy of a few entities with a gentleman's agreement not to compete but active commercial differentiation between services being offered. David Evans

I am the webmaster for a .org registrant. The .org TLD is used mainly by nonprofit organizations, who operate in the public interest. It is not often used by commercial organizations. Small nonprofits cannot afford large increases in their operating costs. Removing the price caps on .org domain name registrations could create great hardships for small nonprofits. To Whom It May Concern: I am opposed to the removal of the ORG domain name price cap. ICANN grants the Public Interest Registry a *de facto* monopoly on domain names. ICANN therefore has a public responsibility to impose limits on the use of that monopoly. ICANN'S abrogating of that responsibility would give the Public Interest Registry free rein to charge any amount they wished. In the past few hundred years, we have see in the United States the stranglehold that monopolies in the oil, coal, railroad and communication companies have had on this nation. We have seen how difficult it is to dismantle such a power structure once it is in place. Please do not create another unlimited monopoly by removing the ORG domain name price cap. In a monopoly situation where there is only one option for people who want to renew a domain, allowing the vendor who controls the domain registration to set unlimited price increases is an abuse of the monopoly power and a blow to ordinary people who don’t have thousands of dollars available to pay for access to a website. Hello ICANN. Please do not remove registration price caps on .org domains. There are many organizations that use this important TLD for many important global and regional causes. .org is one of the most widely used and recognized TLD's. If price caps are removed, registration and renewal of these domains may become uneconomical, forcing many important organizations to change their domains or incur costs that are prohibitive, hurting their efforts to fight their causes. Unlike newer gTLD’s, .org is already very established. Allowing PIR, the registry operator, to increase pricing without constraint or competition allows monopolistic abuses. I strongly oppose the removal of the cap on .org domain registration fee increases. A very large number of .org domains are charities or other non-profits. PIR is a monopoly that could squeeze the life out of many worthwhile organizations if allowed unfettered ability to raise prices. Please keep a lid on .org fees.
