Hi, The DNS-EC was created as part of ICANN’s regional strategy for the Middle East and Adjoining Countries (MEAC), however, it is meant to serve the MEAC as well as Africa. Although the GNSO Council has not had any input to this centre, there are members of the GNSO community who have been involved with it in their individual capacities. As Donna noted, Baher would be an ideal person to provide more information on this centre. Manal Ismail, the Egyptian representative on the GAC is also very involved in the setup of this initiative, and can provide insight. I don't believe the Council has had any direct involvement in the development of the Center. My understanding is that this is an initiative led by Baher Esmat who is part of ICANN's Global Stakeholder Engagement Team, and responsible for the Middle East. Marika or Mary could probably confirm.

I am unaware of this initiative and don't recall this ever being on our agenda.
There have been training events organized by ICANN in Egypt recently, but nothing as formalized as this.
