Dear Councillors,
As mentioned during the September 2021 Council meeting, with the assistance of the staff support team, Council leadership has started with the preparations for the next virtual Council Strategic Planning Session (SPS). Based on the feedback received during the last virtual SPS, we will be following a similar format with the main difference being that some meetings will take place prior to ICANN72 (focused on welcome and induction of new Council members) and others after (focused on strategic planning). To facilitate your planning, the following sessions are being planned:

· Virtual Meet & Greet on Thursday 21 October at 20.00 UTC (including outgoing Council members) · Opportunities and Threats Brainstorming Session on Tuesday 9 November at 14.00 UTC · Plenary Session on Thursday 11 November 22.00 UTC · Team Development on Monday 15 November at 22.00 UTC · Breakout sessions on Wednesday 17 November at 14.00 and 22.00 UTC (Council members pick one time slot) · Council meeting on Thursday 18 November at 19.00 UTC · Wrap up session – Wednesday 24 November 06:00 UTC
As you know, scheduling remains a challenge with so many different time zones so we appreciate your flexibility in accommodating these sessions in your calendars. For those sessions for which a time and date have already been confirmed, you will receive calendar invites shortly. We hope to confirm the time for the other sessions as well as the overarching theme as well as preparatory materials shortly.
Let me again take this opportunity to welcome incoming Council members to the Council. The Council’s Strategic Planning Session is an important event that allows us to 1) get to know each other better, 2) make sure that everyone has the necessary information and tools to perform its role as a Council member, and 3) plan strategically for the year ahead.
Although I am sure we all would have preferred to do this year’s SPS in person, I am counting on all of you to fully engage and participate in this year’s program to make it a success.
