Adding incoming Councilors to the Council list
Does anyone object to adding the incoming Councilors to the Council list before they are actually seated? In my opinion, it would facilitate the transition process. I don't think our procedures cover this one way or the other. If anyone objects, please say so on the list before our meeting this week. If not, I suggest we ask Glen to add the new Councilors on Thursday. Chuck
Chuck, I think it is a good idea. regards Olga 2010/11/16 Gomes, Chuck <cgomes@verisign.com>

Adrian, can you clarify your point? because your last response is not convincing at all. @Chuck last year, new councillors was added without being granted posting permissions and it helped a lot , I don't see any reason preventing the addition of new councillors to the list this year. It is really simple. Anyone with internet access and a browser can access the GNSO Archives and read every single email posted to the list. It therefore seems silly, to me at least, to have to create another avenue for this ‘reason’. If there is another reason I am happy to hear it. Apart from that I continue to object. That said, this is such a minuscule issue. If it causes headaches feel free to move on and create more work for someone. Thanks. It therefore seems silly, to me at least, to have to create another avenue for this ‘reason’.
I think that there is indeed silliness but I tend to think that you are mistaking from which side it is ;).
If there is another reason I am happy to hear it.
mmm, maybe showing good will to cooperate with new councilor?
Apart from that I continue to object.
That said, this is such a minuscule issue. If it causes headaches feel free to move on and create more work for someone.
indeed, it is minuscule, in fact it is not an issue at all. Glen can grant permissions easily without significant workload, but dear colleague, you replied to thread 5 times (and I can presumably expect another reply), even from you iphone, you are undoubtedly autonomous and self-fulfilling in term of workload :) Rafik
Chuck, Olga and I had discussed this in our Council leaders meeting before Chuck submitted the question to the Council list. We all agreed that having new Councillors on the list as observers (i.e. without posting permission as Rafik recalls from last year) is a nice way to transition them into the Council. Plus, as they're observers, there's no harm done. It's a small point and I don't think we should be spending much time on it, but it does seem like a nice way of welcoming people to the Council.
