INFO/ALL - New ICANN Public Comment feature on 31 August
Hello CPWG members, Further to the meeting today, please note the new Public Comment feature will go live starting on Tuesday, 31 August. The recordings for ICANN Public Comment training sessions can be found at <https://www.icann.org/iti> https://www.icann.org/iti. Step-by-step guidelines for Public Comment can be found <https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/public-comment-submission-guidel...> here<https://www.icann.org/en/system/files/files/public-comment-submission-guidel...>. Dear Evin, thanks for this. The reason why I asked that we take this up on our CPWG mailing list, is that I have concerns that the new public comment system, including its explanation material, risk confusing end users commenting in the ALAC/At-Large Process: the explanation material refers to individuals filing individual comments themselves. This is of course very different from taking part in the bottom-up At-Large Statement drafting process. I don't think this has been made clear enough. As a result, with individuals being asked to create their own log-ins and being able to comment individually, I wonder how many people will continue using the At-Large process for public comment drafting? Will someone need an account to take part in the ALAC drafting process? What is the difference between the WIKI account that an At-Large commenter will take part in, and the ICANN account for public comment that will be rolled out? How do we avoid public confusion? Hi Olivier I had a look through their guidelines, and unless I missed it, I couldn't find anywhere where it differentiates a group submission such as from At-Large from an individual comment which is everyone's right to make. Is there a separate submission form for constituencies like At-Large to be able to make our normal group submission. I am including Jana and Mike into this conversation to see how we can overcome any possible confusion, when minority views on a particular statement are submitted as comments from individuals from At-Large but which could seem highly contradictory. Hello all, To add on to Maureen's comments, please note we are setting up the <staff@atlarge.icann.org> account as the primary ALAC statement submission account. So it will work the same way as now, currently sending finalized ALAC statements to ICANN Public Comment via the At-Large staff account. Thank you for your questions, and please continue to share feedback. Right Evin. I had a listen to the webinar and they clearly noted that staff were setting up accounts for SO/AC comments and there should be no confusion re: whether it was and individual or a constituency commenting. I admit that was one of my concerns as well. Marita On 8/18/2021 3:50 PM, Evin Erdogdu via CPWG wrote:
