I was really hoping to discuss and advance that ALAC proposes an education project to help people understand the differences between gTLDs and CCs. A number of people in the subsequent email thread thought it was a good idea to consider. Not good enough for the CPWG, apparently. And people wonder why I'm so cynical about this place. Evan That would be a great topic to present to the Capacity Building group. Perhaps an ICANN Learn programme could develop from it as well using it to give a brief introduction to the differences between GNSO and ccNSO I could see that being very useful for our community to get a better understanding about the SOs. Folks I love the concept. But can we rephrase what the plan is. By calling this an education ‘project’, we are assuming that it is a one-way street. In my experience, auDA has some important rules about who gets to lease/use a name(s) that significantly cut down on abuse - as do the registries in Europe and Canada. What about a project that talks about best practice and what works/doesn’t work. My feeling is that maybe some registries for gTLDs could learn a thing or two - as could the rest of us Holly

From a discussion on differences, we may find surprises of areas where one could emulate other's best practices, such as AUDA's rules about who gets to use a name and the ccTLDs could find some of the gTLDs' good practices valuable.

Folks
I love the concept. My feeling is that maybe some registries for gTLDs could learn a thing or two - as could the rest of us

Hello all,
the decision was made to cancel the call due to so few items on the agenda and little or no updates this week from the great majority of our working group representatives. Rather than having an empty call, we're giving you back volunteer minutes to use as you please. :-) Kindest regards,
Olivier
