Fwd: [Iana-ipr] Revised IANA IPR Community Agreement
All, I am forwarding a revised version of the Community Agreement, prepared primarily by the IETF Trust's counsel. Please reply if you have any further comments on this draft. Please note that everyone (including the CWG) will have the opportunity to comment during the Public Comment period, which is set to begin *Thursday*. The major open issue is the entity that will be the signatory for the names community. It would be good to resolve this, even provisionally, so that it may part of the document when sent out for public comment. All, I have reviewed the revised version of the Community Agreement which represents good progress over the prior draft. I have suggested a few changes in the attached draft. An additional open item -- we need a description of IANA Naming Services. Again, even a tentative description would fill the void and allow for public comment on the draft language, rather than the void. Kavouss, While I occasionally strive for amusement (and even more occasionally achieve it), this is not one of those times. I apologize for not distributing it last night when I received it, but I was attending to family matters. There are relatively few changes in the document, so it shouldn't take too long to review. I thought you would be happy that your comment on "unanimously" was taken into account, at least in part. I'll endeavor to circulate further drafts upon receipt. Thanks for the share, not sure of the need for (...or the “Numbers Community”...) Since the NRO is already indicated. Nevertheless, that may be within the numbers community to decide on. As to the names entity, can we check with legal on whether there will be any illegality if ICANN signs? I think that, because this is a "Community Agreement" and there are references to the three communities, it was thought best to keep this reference. There have been no objections from the numbers community reps (or anyone else). CWG Legal counsel is reviewing both ICANN and the EC as potential signatories. I don't believe ICANN legal has been asked about either, but they probably should be asked. I'll take that up on the Client Committee list.
