Hello Everyone, The ALAC has examined the EURALO letter which we have sent a few days ago, asking for an extension of the election process. The following relevant minutes from the ALAC call: --- snip --- snip --- Olivier: what is the reason for the 19 November deadline? We noted in the letter that all shortlisted candidates should apply for deadlines when they are announce. Right now, several ALS think that the process is being rushed. We are not blaming anyone for this but hope a solution can be found. AI: Staff to convene an ABSdt meeting to dicuss the extension of the deadline of the Board Director Vote. Alan: the petition process has been slowed down by the decisioni of the BCEC not the release the full list of candidates before the final slate is being released. I wonder whether the RALO election process could be shortend from the current 10 days. CLO: if the EURALO have bylaw rules that call for 10 days of voting, I invite Olivier to cite them during the ABSdt call. --- snip --- snip --- There are other points made by Adam and by Tijani, are very valid too, but which I did not quote here, for the sake of focussing on our proposal to the ABSdt which will be convened soon, bearing in mind both Patrick Vande Walle and I are on the ABSdt. I would therefore like to be advised on: 1. the rationale behind asking for 10 days of voting by EURALO ALSes 2. whether we would wish an "all or nothing" 30th November date, or whether we wish an extension which could be negotiated, and if so, what is the extension that would allow us to conduct a suitable election process in EURALO? 3. any other points which should be made clear and which we should insist on during the ABSdt call? Thanks, Olivier -- Olivier MJ Crépin-Leblond, PhD http://www.gih.com/ocl.html
