So, CLO+ICANN staff agree to 6 September deadline for the SoI. But I have not yet seen the Press Release revised accordingly. I must say that in matters of editing and posting and scheduling, I am glad to give my opinion occasionally (especially when widely supported) but I prefer to stay out of the loop when it comes to the execution of decisions. Well I'm happy to support an extension and to the Sept 6th date of CW's last email BUT to 2359 UTC NOT pacific time as we use UTC So unless I hear *objections from BCEC* (all I see is support and affirmation for the proposal) by Thursday 0400 UTC (ok that is a tad more than the 48hrs I first gave => but I'm in a generous mood ;-) we will extend the date for close of for SoI's on this press release (good reason to send it AND do an update on ICANN and other internal announces ;-)
Also add the contact address details of BCEC-Request@icann.org to be forwarded to everybody and Heidi (as staff contact) copied who will follow-up again with the "appropriate regional liaison".
AND note the press release (and other Announce(s) then can go live as soon as possible after that time so my guess is first thing Friday morning from MdR...

However, one thing that troubles me is the time limit of 21 August. That is _four days_ from _today_!
Less, if an editor delays an article for 24 or 48 hours, e.g. to get the press release translated.
At least we can extend the deadline to 23 August which bridges the weekend without loss of working days.
I would strongly prefer a three week deadline.

Attached is an initial draft of a news release.
As you know a news release is dramatically different than one of our community web announcements. The target audience of a news release are journalists who may know little or nothing about ICANN, let alone the At-Large community or even any of our issues…. so we have to strive to write them to the lowest common denominator… since many have never written about such issues.
Please give me your suggested edits/changes and get sign-off on the quote from Cheryl and we’ll go from there.
