I am in favour of ther extension. However my more critical question is whether the three listed candiodates are final or whether we can add one namne (Avria in this case)?
The ALAC Internal Rules of Procedure state: 27.6 Final Candidate List Following the publication of the BCEC slate of candidates, RALOs have an opportunity to add candidates to that list. Candidates shall only be added if they had previously submitted a SoI to the BCEC during the current selection process, and if they receive the support through formal action of at least three of the five RALOs. Reference: https://community.icann.org/download/attachments/2950983/AL-2007-1-1-Rev11+A... It would therefore be possible for EURALO to initiate such a process, called "petition".
I see also a problem with Sebastian. He was selected by the NomCom for a two year period as ALAC member. When he leaves ALAC and will become a votong ICANn director, his European ALAC seat remains empty for the rest of his period because EURALO has no right to send somebody else to replace him. This can be done only by the NomCom and the 2011 NomCom has no European slot to fill.
I don't see this as a problem. The 2010 NomCom has selected him and would still be in place until the end of Cartagena. My interpretation is that if Sébastien Bachollet was selected to become an ICANN Board Director, he would relinquish the position on ALAC. My memory fades me, but isn't there an "alternate" for every position filled by NomCom 2010? Kind regards, Olivier -- Olivier MJ Crépin-Leblond, PhD http://www.gih.com/ocl.html
