Hi Bill and all, I am on the way to prepare our Tel. Conf. for this afternoon. As I was told a reasonable time limit for such a TC is about one hour – and I am getting a bit afraid whether we can manage all the various points in the limited time. Thinking about a more structured discussion, I would like to suggest the following slight modification of the agenda, as proposed by Sébastien (Thanks again!): 1. Adoption of the Agenda 2. ICANN@Paris -- June 2008 (proposed by SBT) 3. At-large Summit (proposed by SBT) The Summit has a working group of At-large worldwide which can be found at the Summit WG Wiki Some preparatory steps: a) ICANN New Delhi, 10 – 15 Feb. 08: for RALO coordination worldwide b) EURALO board – OC meeting 24 or 25 Feb. 08 in Geneva (draft agenda proposed by Wolf – Answer to Veronica yesterday) 4. New gTLDs – projects from Europe (proposed by SBT) 5. Outreach for new ALS in Europe (proposed by SBT) and Helsinki 08 (as proposed by Wolfgang) 6. Egeni Europe 2008 – 20 June Paris – some information and proposed by SBT 7. JPA and NTIA (SBT) Always considering our time limits at the TC, let me suggest to note and postpone all points for further discussion at our Geneva meeting where we cannot find consensus at the TC immediately (to make sure that nothing is getting lost). For the creation of a Summit OC, as proposed by Sébastien and me, we already have the following nominations: Sébastien, Annette, Wolf, Veronica, Rudi and Wolfgang – Anybody else? I hope this may help to promote a fruitful discussion later. Glad to hear you, Wolf William Drake wrote Thu, 17 Jan 2008 14:33:
Hi W,
Argh, sorry, the subject line threw me off, need to read mail more slowly...at least I wasn't alone. Ok, I just looked online at the tele-agenda, which I see is all specific initiatives and no organizational stuff. Maybe it'll work to dive right in without that the first time out, we'll see. Re: Geneva, I've only heard back from one person that they can make it; at a minimum I hope we can clarify this so I know whether to reserve a room, if that'd be desired.
Cheers,
BD

Hi Bill,
I think this is a misunderstanding! In my answer-Mail to Veronica I was talking about the potential prep. meeting (board + OC) at the end of Feb. in Geneva with a time frame of about 4 hours -- but NOT about the expected length of our today's tel. conference. Hope to hear you later.
Best, Wolf

- How long will the meeting last for? As it would be the first physical EURALO board and OC meeting, I suggest a minimal time frame of 4 hours.

Four hours sounds a bit like a Comintern meeting. I wasn't anticipating this when I clicked 17h UTC on the Doodle, and alas will have to leave by 18:30. Hopefully someone will be able to take notes and report later for those who cannot make the whole thing....
Dear Veronica,
let me try to answer some of the questions you raised:
If I
understand you right you were asking for the suggested Geneva meeting late February? - What is the tentative Agenda for the meeting?
I suggest: (1)
Summary and Briefing about New Delhi, (2) State of the User¹s Summit project, (3) Further planning: role, subjects, programme, target groups, timing, work plan (who is doing what?) the outcome should be a precise draft of programme and Work plan with check-list (4) Other activities, such as Outreach and General Assembly etc.) planning for 2008 (5) How could the EURALO board function in a more effective way (who is doing what?) (6) Miscellaneous
- What shall each of us be ready with for the meeting? (e.g.
Personally, I'd have preferred to reverse this order and work from your 5 => 1, as sorting out overall board functioning and planning seem antecedent to considering specific initiatives and meetings. Front loading the foundational stuff might also be useful if there are others who will have to sign off early as well. But if you prefer to move from specific to general hopefully there will be a report to which people can respond online to address such items.
Cheers,
Bill
