Dear Adam and all, The issue is not being dealt with by ISOC-Bulgaria, but by the Ministry of Communications, so we can not say much more than the official position, being published in the media. However, I'm not aware of any official communication between ICANN and the ministry being released for the public, so anything on that topic might sound like a speculation. You should have in mind, however, that there is a company that has been selling domain names for the last few years in the non-existing domain .бг (.bg in Cyrillic), so it is normal for them to be looking into the matter from purely business perspective. Again, this is something which ISOC-Bulgaria can not comment on, being a non-profit, and having nothing to do with this company. Besy regards, Dessi
Interesting thread on the civil society Internet governance list about Bulgaria's requerst for a fast track ccTLD being refused. Apparently .бг was considered likely to cause confusion with .br (Brazil.) See the archive at <http://lists.cpsr.org/lists/arc/governance/2010-05/msg00143.html>
Can anyone from ISOC Bulgaria comment?
I don't really understand, on a lot of levels.
Thanks,
Adam
