All, below there is a summary of the nominations that I've seen thus far. I still think that we miss certain parts of Europe, such as Spain / Portugal, UK / Ireland, Scandinavia / Finland, Poland / Czech Rep / Hungary, and Russia / Ukraine / Baltic. Is there anyone from there? Also, perhaps those who are candidates for the ALAC could consider running for the Board as well - we have four great candidates and it would be a pity to completely lose the contribution of two of them. Those who have been nominated should please notify the list whether they accept the nomination. Finally, do people think that they need more time to post more nominations? Can we close by April 22, or do we go until May 1st? Dear All First I would like to thank Vittorio and Wolfgang for nominating me for the EURALO board. I accept this nomination. In EURALO I represent the German Civil Liberties Union (Humanistische Union) Germany's oldest und highly respected civil liberties organization. I am a member of its board. Unfortunately our website is almost entirely in German. The GCLU is a strong advocate of freedom of speech, data protection and the enhancement of political participation. The links to EURALO are obvious. I am also a member of the board of the German Society for Freedom of Information. This organization advocates access to government information. My paid job is with the Max Planck Society, Germany's biggest extra university research organization. There I am responsible for Open Access, that is developing new modes of publication to make all publicly funded research output available without costs for the end user. By standing for a seat in the EURALO board I ask for your support because of my civil liberties background and because of my long standing activity in the formation of EURALO Christoph ____________________________________________ Dr. Christoph Bruch German Civil Liberties Union office info@humanistische-union.de phone: +49 (0)30 - 20 45 02 56 Fax: +49 (0)30 - 20 45 02 57 www.humanistische-union.de home phone: +49 (0)30 - 32 10 32 82 -----Ursprüngliche Nachricht----- Von: euro-discuss-bounces@atlarge-lists.icann.org [mailto:euro-discuss-bounces@atlarge-lists.icann.org] Im Auftrag von Kleinwächter, Wolfgang Gesendet: Freitag, 20. Vittorio: Also, perhaps those who are candidates for the ALAC could consider running for the Board as well - we have four great candidates and it would be a pity to completely lose the contribution of two of them. Wolfgang: Probably we can procede in two steps: Step One: Election of the two ALAC members. Step Two: Inviting non-elected candidates to apply for the EURALO Board.
I think, to choose ALAC members first is a good procedure. Concerning the nomination period, I think we should try to do our best to come up with proposals until this sunday 22nd and start the discussion. If someone comes up with another proposal in the following week on ALAC and even some days later with another proposal for a board member, this is fine too. What do you think about the following schedule: - Sunday 22nd end of nomination period for ALAC candidates - Monday 23rd of April opening the discussion on candidates for ALAC and the Board trying to find a consensus. - Friday, 4th of May, end of discussion - hopefully in consensus - on the ALAC candidates. - Only if there is no consensus on the ALAC members, a voting period on ALAC candidates from the 5th to the 15th of May. Concerning the Board, I am absolutely positive that we find a consensus and it would be good to finalize selecting the Board until the 25th of May. If there is already a consensus reached by the 15th even better. (We should be free to use this period of time even if there is a consensus on the ALAC members by the 4th of May.) Hello Nick, According to the process detailed on the Wiki, we should have a teleconference to discuss the nominations. Can the ICANN staff suggest a possible date and make the necessary arrangements ? Thanks a lot, Patrick Annette Muehlberg wrote:

Dear Vittorio, dear colleagues, Thank you Vittorio for the nominations, I would like to inform you all that I reject the ALAC nomination. This is not for the reason that I am not willing to serve ALAC , but right the opposite - I 'd like to see how the real work of EURALO starts and how I can be beneficial for the whole process. I want to concentrate on the impact of the EURALO, and its popularization. I would like to have a few more days to consider about the Board nomination. Meanwhile, I nominate Andres Oliva for the Board, if he agrees. Regards, Dessi Pefeva Vittorio Bertola wrote:
