ICANN 67 Schedule
Hi all, I know that things are still evolving and that everything is necessarily being done in a hurry, so no offense intended to anyone, but does the At Large leadership or anyone from the staff have any idea of when at least a draft schedule for ICANN 67 will be published? Both the (few) people that will still be going to Cancun and the others that will attend remotely need to plan their work and personal life in those days, which are just two weeks away. At least having a general idea of when the sessions will be held would be very useful, even basic things such as the start and end time each day, whether it will cover all days from Sunday to Thursday or some will be spared, whether the original block schedule will be generally confirmed, etc. If it were me, I'd just publish the original in-person schedule (which was supposedly ready a week ago) and I would say that each session will be either cancelled or moved to a Zoom room, letting each session organizer decide - that looks like the easiest thing to do. Thanks Vittorio, ICANN leadership will meet tomorrow to exchange about the schedule of ICANN67. I agree with you that it is a short time to organize the sessions and the participants involvement. I don’t know what we will end up. But my personal impression and take on the current discussion: Some technical issues must be work out: Number of parallel sessions, possible interpretation (how many sessions in // and how many languages)… Regarding the Time Zone I bet for Los Angeles time (PST = UTC-8:00) The following meetings may be confirm Cross-community WG (involving more than one SO or AC) PDPs Some of the High Interest Topic Possible coordination for each SO/AC The constituency day Not sure about opening ceremony and Public Forums. The other sessions maybe postponed to the next F2F meeting or be taking care in the regular meetings schedule for each of them. I hope it is of some help. All the best SeB

Just a note on this: I would find it disrespectful for the LAC region and the unfortunate hosts if the timezone were changed from the Mexican one, as this was supposed to be the "LAC meeting" and facilitate outreach in that region. If ICANN really is a global bottom-up organization, support for the community should be more important than convenience to the staff in the head office. By the way, the Californian timezone is possibly the worst for Europe and Africa as well. Ciao, -- vb. Vittorio The updated schedule will probably be published Thursday or Friday of this week. There's a planning meeting scheduled for this afternoon where I believe some updates might be provided. Most of the SO/ACs have met with ICANN staff a few times over the last few days and the discussion around the schedule has been one of the items. The timezone for whatever schedule is finalised will be Cancun NOT LA, from my read of the FAQ that was published last night.
