Dear All .. Please find attached the document prepared by Marika and Olof on mechanisms for GAC-GNSO day-to-day cooperation .. Do note, that due to space limitations, we had to reorganise the table and create separate ones for each option currently being explored. Also, we added a row for overall assessment which will hopefully allow the consultation group to summarise its views and allow easy comparison between the different options. Of course, it goes without saying that our suggested language should in no way be seen as restricting or directing the conversation it is merely intended to get the conversation started. Regarding the considered options, I believe some options can be implemented simultaneously and some, if implemented, would automatically exclude others .. For example, we can implement 'reverse liaison', 'recurring joint meetings' as well as 'early awareness & notifications' all simultaneously .. Yet if we agree to have "Group of existing GNSO Council PDP Liaisons interacting with the GAC", this would automatically exclude having "Topic Leads / Buddy System" implemented, right? If yes, then I believe it would be useful if we also try to identify beside the title of each option, other options it excludes .. As this would also guide us later when comparing and contrasting pros & cons of each .. Thoughts? Dear Manal, I think you're right, although there may be different "flavors" of the options - the "Group of existing GNSO Council PDP Liaisons interacting with the GAC" could for example be interacting with the corresponding topic leads of the GAC, turning into a hybrid of the buddy system. Perhaps too early to highlight the exclusion aspect until we have had an initial discussion about the options per se. Good point to bring up in that discussion, though! Just my two Euro-cents. I would concur with both of you, and think the idea of developing pros and cons is an excellent way to assess the different options. I was just wondering, and I'm thinking out loud here, whether discussion of the last 2 columns, 'Improve coordination between GAC/GNSO Secretariats' & 'Improve process awareness and notifications, both directions', fits more within discussion of day-to-day co-operation .. I believe coordination between GAC/GNSO secretariats as well as early awareness and notifications both extend beyond the PDPs .. The latter is already included in the day-to-day template .. We can decide to leave them if the intension is to come up with some concrete suggestions directly related to PDPs .. We just need to be aware of the overlap, avoid redundancy and ensure coordination .. Looking forward to know what you and other colleagues think as this would affect the structure of the table we are to fill .. Hi again, and thanks to Manal for catching the overlap; I would agree that this is not limited to PDPs, but should apply to the overall, day to day working relationships that we are seeking to improve on.
