a first-try at the first-half of the GNSO PDP process diagram
hi all, i was so envious of Marika’s mind-map about the reverse-liaison that i decided to have a go at an “editable” document we could use for our discussion of the early engagement in the PDP discussion. i started with the existing Powerpoint deck (thanks Marika!) and quickly realized that it’s very difficult to modify because of the way it was constructed. so i built a new version. this is purely at the “thought exercise” stage right now. if people hate it, we can throw it away. but the nice thing about this version is that we can add and subtract steps *much* more easily than the prior version. as i was building the deck, i threw a few questions in — they’re purely mine. again, mostly things that came to mind as i was building the slides and easily discarded if they’re wrong. the first slide in the deck is the “remaining work to be done” slide that i put into every slide deck as i think of things that still need doing. feel free to suggest items for this list. it’s not a workplan for our sub-team, it’s just things that need to happen in order to finish this first-draft framework. my main reason for sharing this at this early stage is to get those shocked reactions from those of you who find huge errors or really dislike this document. thanks, mikey PHONE: 651-647-6109, FAX: 866-280-2356, WEB: www.haven2.com, HANDLE: OConnorStP (ID for Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
Thanks a lot, Mikey, for this very comprehensive exercise, which I found particularly interesting to help to build my thoughts on this. Unfortunately, I'm not shocked :) but it triggers some reaction, definitely, but it requires some time to digest it. hi all, i’ve bashed through the rest of the process diagram. so now it’s more complete, although still badly in need of review and revision. if i were in charge, i’d probably suggest that we go through it together on a call — just to familiarize people with it and elicit the first round of questions. would it be OK if i took about 15 minutes on our next call for a quick overview? for all you GNSO process-expert type people (Marika, this means you!) — feel free to wing corrections my way. thanks, mikey PHONE: 651-647-6109, FAX: 866-280-2356, WEB: www.haven2.com, HANDLE: OConnorStP (ID for Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, etc.)
Hi Mikey, all, I've had a look through the document and made some proposed edits / additions in red (where it would allow me) - see attached. I think this is a useful exercise in understanding the current PDP and opportunities for engagement, however it does not capture or address some of the steps proposed by Suzanne a while back, which was included in the Word document (see also attached including Mikey's comments). Of course, one possible approach could be for the group to work through the existing opportunities first and decide if/how these can be improved, following which you may have a clearer idea of what is still missing. thanks Marika! yep — i took a look at Suzanne’s suggestions and decided that i was working at a different level of detail — the page that she’s suggesting steps for has been broken down into several pages in this draft. so rather than putting things in the wrong place, i thought i’d wait until we were on the phone together to figure out where to put them. mikey On Jan 16, 2014, at 8:44 AM, Marika Konings <marika.konings@icann.org> wrote:
