Hi Caitlin and John: Reviewing the email chain below, it seems our Board Readiness team agrees that: 1. 15 minutes is insufficient for a meaningful discussion of our report 2. That we use the time slot to introduce the report, maybe “how to read it,” “what to look for,” “how to prepare for a subsequent discussion.” 3. Reserve one of the Sunday Council working sessions in Dublin to present the Findings and Recommendations, take in-depth questions and comments, and discuss next steps. If you agree with this approach, can you discuss with the Council leadership and make appropriate plans. It’d be great to know if this will be the approach, as I’ll have to substantially revise our presentation, which currently exceeds the 15-minute window. Thanks for your help coordinating this & best regards, Kurt Begin forwarded message: From: jen--- via Gnso-board-readiness-smallteam <gnso-board-readiness-smallteam@icann.org> Subject: [Gnso-board-readiness-smallteam] Re: Board Readiness briefing for the Council Date: 17 September 2025 at 8:09:18 am AEST To: "'Thomas Rickert | rickert.law via Gnso-board-readiness-smallteam'" <gnso-board-readiness-smallteam@icann.org> Cc: 'GNSO-Secs' <gnso-secs@icann.org>, "'Thomas Rickert | rickert.law'" <thomas@rickert.law>, jen@dot.asia Agree with Thomas and Prudence, this is a good choice of action. The introduction during Council call will mean that we can go to substantive discussion in Dublin, especially important since we only have 2 not 3 working sessions. However, I would like to propose something a little different. Why not use the 15 minutes to merely introduce the topic and then nab the Council working session, to have that engaging discussion. So the council meeting is a introduction and to whet the appetite of the Council, and then we have the substantive discussions and exploration during the Dublin meeting. I still would like to take the opportunity to at least broach the topic this week, and not wait until Dublin. As always let me know your thoughts. I do not think that is time for a comprehensive discussion. It’s say, less than 2 minutes per recommendation, many of which have multiple detailed recommendations. I also think an important discussion of next steps also must occur. We could suggest as an alternative - that we be given a block of time during the Council working session Sunday of the Dublin meeting. I think it is a good set-up for a meaningful discussion. I’d like to hear what you think - we only have a couple days prior to the next Council meeting. I would suggest completely replacing the upcoming meeting as the 15 minute slot would set up expectations of a substantive discussion that would be dashed. I don’t like the idea of a “brief overview” but would like to hear your perspective.
