Hi, Feodora (and Paul), Thanks so much for the message and heads up about the agenda. I am just a bit confused as for the confirmation of Paul as Chair and the leadership, so here are two questions: 1. Just so we're clear, GNSO council still has to confirm the Chair selection, right ? Asking that bc Im confused as to how we can have a PDP session ahead of the GNSO Council meeting that will most likely confirm this point. 2. I see the agenda has a "Leadership team" item, so I would also like to inquire how the vice-chair selection will be done. I took note that we have a couple of candidates on the list, and - ideally - the SSC runner up cant be the VC as hes not a member of the PDP. But it would be important to clear this point up ahead of the meetings. Best, Bruna On Tue, Feb 24, 2026 at 10:40 AM Eberhard W Lisse via Gnso-dnsabuse-pdp < gnso-dnsabuse-pdp@icann.org> wrote:

Hi Bruna, Thanks for the questions, let me see if I can help clear up some questions below: 1. Yes, this is the case. A consent agenda motion will be shared soon with the Council by the deadline for motions (1 March) to confirm the SSC selection. The 4 PDP sessions scheduled for ICANN85 was set so this PDP WG can have a good constructive start to the work ahead – indeed it would be have been most ideal for Council meeting to have formally confirmed the SSC selection before these working sessions. However, given timing, how the scheduling has shaped out, and in order to progress the work the GNSO Council leadership based on the SSC recommendation had decided that the chair selected would be able to take up the post on an interim basis pending confirmation by Council during the 11 March meeting. 2. With regards to the Vice- Chair role, a Call for Volunteers for the Vice Chair position has been opened with the deadline of 27 February (in the initial email sent to the PDP list). Members, participants and alternates of the WG are eligible to self-nominate or be nominated. Once the deadline has passed, the WG leadership will reach out to the WG with the full list of volunteers and the WG will collectively decide during ICANN85 how to best select the Vice-Chair. Hope this helps. Thanks Bruna. I too asked these same questions. I guess I have been given a bit of provisional pre-authority to get us kicked off so we don’t miss our opportunity to meet in Mumbai. If I figure out a way to get voted down by Council, someone new will step in. 😊 But, ultimately, the unique timing issues here are a Council issue – so I don’t have all the inside details. As for vice-chair, yes, we will get a note out about that. I do believe that some folks have already expressed interest, so if there are others who are interested, I would get those notes out on this list as soon as practical.
