Dear Emily, one important comment to your notes. You copied my suggestion regarding the fee handling of variants in subsequent rounds, but you forgot to copy the initial prerequisite/assumption, which I think is especially important because it said something like: "Let's assume the base application fee is 200,000 USD (not our decision)." If someone just reads the notes as the are now, one could assume we actually do suggest the price to be exactly 200,000 USD, which was not at all the intention. I just wanted to put any example number to avoid having too many variables (X, Y, Z) in the suggestion, which makes it harder to read. The logically better way to write the suggestion is as follows (which avoids and actual prices from us, but makes it harder to read): Let N be the number of variants included for free in an application. Let X be the base application fee. Let Y be the fee for additional N variants. New Applications: ================= First application including 0 - N variants: Pay X. First application including N+1 - 2N variants: Pay X+Y. Follow-up applications: ======================= Existing TLD with any number of variants. Apply for 1 - N additional variants: Pay Y. Existing TLD with any number of variants. Apply for N+1 - 2N additional variants: Pay 2Y. Exemption for 2012 round: ========================= Apply for 1 - N additional variants: Free, no charge. Apply for N+1 - 2N additional variants: Y.
